Fabulous food and service

Had an excellent Sunday lunch here last week. Lovely setting, relaxing drink in the bar while we waited to give our order. All inclusive price of £28 for starter, main, dessert, cheese and coffee. Had cheese and red onion tart, followed by rare sirloin of beef, berryfruit meringue and coffee... read more

My Daughter booked us in for a meal as it was my wife's birthday, I am not going to drag this out but all I am going to say is the food and service was excellent. The male waiter couldn't do enough to keep us happy and all the food was really good. To top it they also came out... More

Sunday lunch at Clarkes restaurant within Glen Yr Afon hotel is something not to be missed. One sitting at 1pm -arrive at 12.30 am and enjoy a drink in the bar- ample staff in attendance to take your order and escort you to your table. I enjoyed a superb lunch with starter of freshly prepared tomato soap, chicken for main, welsh... More

We attended Clarkes again in March meeting up with some friends in Usk. It was a fairly quit Tuesday night but we were made to feel very welcome and pampered by Caroline and Sultan - thank you both. The four of us only had main courses and a bottle of wine this time but they were all cooked to perfection... More

having booked in advance & informed the staff that two of our party were vegetarian, I was surprised to find only cheese sandwiches for them & nothing else & that the cheese sandwiches had been piled up with the ham sandwiches. The cake selection was amazing, so many cakes & warm scones , we'd never be able to eat all... More

The Glan-yr-afon has been consistently well above average for food and events for many years. There is a lovely, warm atmosphere, the service and food are both excellent and I cannot recommend it highly enough (even though it will make it even more difficult to get in, as it needs to be booked well in advance). It is often used... More

The highest quality ingredients, cooked with flair and attention make meals here a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Courteous and friendly service from staff who know their foods and wines help to perfect the evening. An intelligent, varied winelist will suit all tasts and pockets. Worth a detour - as one guide puts it!

My wife and I were lucky enough to be invited to Clarkes at the Glenyravon in Usk to celebrate a very good friends "significant" birthday. I have to say it was exceptional, pre-arranged drinks on arrival, friendly, chatty staff - special mention to the Maitre'd - Sultan - from the Maldives, a real gentleman and truly professional. The food and... More

Dear Ruth25 Many thanks for taking the time to write a review about your afternoon tea experience on the 19th September. I remain mystified; you were part of a group of 14 here in a private room. For clarification, our afternoon tea consists of - A selection of savoury sandwiches, Pitta breads filled with salami, Parma ham, chorizo, sun dried... More
