We reserved one day before overlooking the fact that we were visiting on a Friday night thus predictably, the 8PM tables were fully booked so we settled for a 6PM early dinner. One gets the impression that since it is by the dunes & beach, Sansibar is set up for drinking from sunlight to sunset to sunrise - the small... More

the setting is great and can not fault the food, which is good, especially the curry wurst, but as it was a rather hot day the service was unable to cope and drinks arrived a lot later than the food. A bit disjointed but still worth a visit.

Situated right on a dune- alas no direct sea views, this place has been an in-spot with the hip and famous for many years. The atmosphere is cosy and unique- the crowd is mixed from families to senior citizens to people coming from the beach from a long walk. Food is reliable average pub food with a good steak menu... ... I choose the second opportunity. Sansibar is famous that's true but it is also croweded every time i come to this place so if you want to spend your time chilling in a quiet place you are definetly wrong. But otherwise enjoy the atmosphere in this special beachbar get some real good food or even just a drink sure... More

I usually avoid 'in' places, and places that get featured in glamor magazines. Then, again, the Sansibar is an institution on Sylt, and many friends had spoken well, so we went there (without a reservation) during a recent week-long trip to Sylt. What can I say? we returned two more times after that, and we have nothing but fond memories... More

On a recent trip to Sylt, I was lucky enough to have the chance to eat in Sansibar. I was not aware of its fine reputation beforehand but I did become aware of the reasons for this reputation during the evening. My companions and I were treated to an array of dishes comprising meat, fish and salads which proved a... More

If you are a dare-devil wave the reservation thing and battle for your place outside - innside is usually sold out for weeks if not longer. We were blessed and got a table for 3 on the lovely porch and as the rain just stopped pouring it was not too crowded. The wine list is spectacular with high-class choices around... More

We had wonderful lunches at the Sanisbar. Enjoy Tapas or fish soup, and the wine Dönnhoff Doppelstück to go with. For dessert we would recommed Kaiserschmarrn but it is a huge portion so you have to eat it with 2 or 3 people. When the weather is nice on the Island Sylt, you can eat and drink outside with your... Definitely a "must see", but that's it. To me it was just like a beergarden which is hidden in the dunes. Very disturbing to me were the logos of a German carmaker, which were nearly everywhere. The atmosphere wasn't to great either to compensate for the high prices and the average service.
