Read about all the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor so my husband, our friend and I decided to make a reservation. The young waiter seemed like he was 13 or 14 and in Shangrila on a summer holiday from Europe. He was not experienced and forgot one of the three items we ordered. Mainly, it was the lack of service from... More

So myself and two friends spent 3 nights in Shangri-La during our small tour of inland China. Our first night we stumbled upon this gem in Old Town and we went back for the next 2 nights! The food was delicious, Damien was a wonderful host to us young Americans, and the restaurant has a fantastic ambience. Not to mention... More

We found this place by coincidence when walking through the old town of Shangri La, trying to find a place for dinner. Arro Khampa convinced us with the Trip Advisor traveler's choice reward, which we have to say they truly deserve. The atmosphere is very cosy with wooden interior and you immediately feel at home. There's an English menu with... More

We tried the tibetan hot pot which was excellent and we liked so much the food, the warm atmosphere and the chef´s attention that we went a second time to enjoy the "raclette": A french reciepe based on cheese and different sorts of ham. This one was special as it included some yak meat and local cheese... Mmm, delicious after... More

We went there yesterday with some friends and this is the best place we have been visiting in this area of Yunnan : great place on the first floor, a bit far from the Disco craze of the other bars, great host, thanks Damien and Ting, excellent food and great wine, local cold cuts and local heese to start, what... This was possibly the most wonderful and surprising feast we have had in our whole China trip! Damien, the host, recommended us the braised yak which was melt in your mouth amazing! The momo yak dumplings were not only visually full of character but were full of flavor! After lunch there today I already want to return for dinner! A... More

We went to arro khampa for lunch. We headed upstairs into this beautiful wooden seating area and we were greeted by Damien a lovely Frenchman who helped us choose items from the menu that he recommends, and he didn't fail us. We had a yak meat dish braised with its own juices and with shallots dried chilli and coriander, it... More
