An excellent hostelry in which I have spent many happy hours. There is a small blackboard behind the bar on which is displayed the amount of draft real ale served in the previous week, usually between 1200 and 1500 pints, so assuming nine gallon barrels that is somewhere between 17 and 20 barrels a week ( real ale only remember).... I recently stopped in here at the West Riding whilst waiting for a train. It is a well known real ale pub on the Ale Trail. I called in around lunch time and the bar area wasn't too busy. There are a good selection of real ales to choose from; I opted for a pint of Timothy Taylors as it... More

a real ale lovely pub - often marred by massive groups of folk on the beer trail. Has lots of character for a train waiting room.

Great pub full of characters. Never seen any trouble in this 'ale trail' pub. Fab selection of ales and even sell bottles of prosecco for £13 bargain!

I used to lunch here regularly a few years ago. I visited recently for beer and lunch. The atmosphere was as I remembered. Service was good and friendly. The real ale choice was as good as ever. A little disappointed with the limited lunch menu, although the food was fine and reasonably priced, it wasn't as good as I remember... More

Went last Monday lunchtime. We sampled a few of the selection of ales on offer. Great staff service. Not too busy - many pop in for a quickie before boarding their train. Had a light lunch - burger and chips or pie and peas - reasonably priced. Has a great victorian feel about it...could have quaffed ale all afternoon...will go... More

Went last night with a mate from Leeds, and was really proud to show this place off! I have been drinking here for over 20 years and can remember when it opened. Originally it was healthy food only, but no longer has that ethos (its changed hands). White bread, pies and chips were never on the menu before! However it... More
