The Giants Rest is a trad English country pub, that offers nice surroundings of the East Sussex countryside, a great place for meal out or just a stop rest for the weary traveller (great selection of Long Man ales, and Folkington juices) and not being able to find fault can only say an excellent all round and most welcoming pub.... The food was better conceived than executed. I ordered pork medallions with stilton mash. I was expecting the medallions to be cut from a tenderloin fillet, but they were just trimmed chops. The stilton overwhelmed the mash. It wasn't bad, but could have been so much better. The beer was good though.

Myself , my husband and our children 17 and 21 ate here on a Friday afternoon , on entering the barmaid did not even glance up with a smile on her face but left us standing rather awkwardly . The menu is interesting and unusual which is always refreshing and makes a pleasant change from normal pub grub and even... More

We visited for lunch ... Restaurant was busy.. Menu was good. Service was slow. My husband ordered a beer which was flat when I advised the lady behind the bar she was really rather rude. However they allowed a change. Food was good.. Lunch plough mans was nice but a little overpriced. Probably wouldn't return.

The Giants Rest has had its ups and downs over the years, but it is now definitely on an up. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere friendly and vibrant, and so is invariably popular, particularly at weekends, and you really need to book on a Sunday lunch. We had a great lunch today, served promptly, and was very tasty.

We love this restaurant. Always great food, only criticism is you have to order at the bar. Service is ok.

I went to Giant's Rest in late December with a group of friends and would never wish to make a return visit,WHY worst service i have ever experienced and worst food. I ordered turkey and was dished up what seemed like turkey roll straight out of a packet. Was i unlucky because it was in the Christmas period when many... More

Our son recommended that we once again try the Giants Rest, an old favourite that had sadly declined under previous owners. It was every bit as good as we had been told! The chicken pate and smoked mackerel pate were delicious, but we could have done without as the main course was huge! The steak and ale pie (my personal... More

Six of us ate at The Giant's Rest on a Saturday evening. We were staying at Wilmington Priory just down the road, so it was lovely to just be able to wander to the pub with no-one having to drive. The pub looks lovely, with twinkly white lights round the doors, and in the bunches of twigs along the ceiling.... More

Six of us had an excellent Xmas / Sunday meal after spending 4 hours walking the countryside in the pouring rain ! We had a variety of starters between us , all perfectly cooked, presented and enjoyed. The nut roast was one of the best I've tasted. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Can't wait for... More
