A real surprise. A vegetarian restaurant with a good, varied menu which specialises in salads made with leaves it has either grown itself, or sourced locally. A good atmosphere in the upstairs room. Try to bag one of the window seats; it's great for people watching, even in a fairly quiet town. Excellent banana cake for afternoon tea. You need... More

After a walk up to the Bridestones, my boyfriend and I decided to go for a coffee in Todmorden. We thought The Bear looked quite quirky and it seemed quite popular. When we got to the counter there were 3 members of staff who completely ignored us and after a few minutes I asked another waitress if we ordered here... More

Visit fairly regularly and always enjoy it. Gets really busy at lunch times so if you can wait till 2 to eat, I'd advise it! The platters are gorgeous and worth the money. Is a little more expensive than some lunch venues however everything is homemade on the premises and tastes excellent. Caters for GF which is a god send... More

Meant to write this immediately after our visit, only now getting round to it. Once we had ordered our food, we waited. And waited. And waited. People who came in after us were all being served. After a patient 40 mins or so, we enquired after our meals only to be told they had forgotten to fill our order. A... More

A friend wanted to take me out to lunch as it was my birthday and asked me where I would like to go - I suggested that we go to The Bear as I had been a couple of months ago and enjoyed the experience. Being a Saturday it was very busy but we didn't have long to wait as... More

A return visit. One of my favourite places and worth the trek out. A great range if dishes including plenty of vegan options. Locally and organically sourced where possible. I had the sunshine salad and it was delicious.

Light and airy, more importantly clean. The staff were efficient and the food delicious, meat was not missed at all, we are not vegetarian- all in all this is an delightful place that we would happily return to

Back in the area after a break of two years, we walked along the canal from Hebden Bridge to Todmorden to revisit the Bear Cafe. Needless to say we weren't disappointed. This is a very special cafe - friendly service and great food in a spacious and characterful building. We ordered two flat whites and shared a small platter of... More

I have eaten here many times with my vegan brother. I love the vegetarian food especially the cakes and my brother has said he loves the vegan food served there too. I think it's just a little bit pricey for what you get but the food speaks for itself because we keep going back!

This was a halfway point meeting place for myself and a friend and we loved our couple of hours here. The food is very fresh and the staff discrete but attentive when needed. All food is organic and freshly prepared with very reasonable prices. I had the soup & panini deal (£6) and it was more than enough for a... More
