Description: This is not an ordinary chip shop. There is a lovely resturant or an old bus to dine in. In summer eat outside or by the canal.Childrens menu and wide range of meat pies and puddings available. The vanilla slices are great as wellaethe fruit pies All home made. All avilable with tea/coffee, bread and butter. Just go in the chp shop, order and the meal is brought to you at your table. The service is excellent. It is an experience to dine in the bus usually accompanied by 60s/70s music in the backgrund. The bus can be hired for private parties. The shop is open Mon. and Tues till 3.30pm and Wed.Thurs.and Fri. till 8pm. Not open Sat and Sun. It really is an experience (very good one), and well worth a visit. The place is spotless. We have been going many years now and there .are many regulars. I would recommend the chippy for a very enjoyable experience.

I have been to Grandma Pollards several times now over the past few years with the last visit this month. The food and service is always very good. Tony and his staff are very welcoming. It is a very quirky place and has seating outside also. The fish and chips are consistently good and you must try one of the... More

I have been to Grandma Pollards several times with friends and its lovely, nice fresh fish and chips, nice atmosphere. The only down side is the opening days, it needs to open on a weekend! But as said, other than that its great.

It is always difficult to say which is the best chippie. Everyone will have their favourites, but to us Grandma Pollards is consistently very good and we have been visiting for nearly 18 years four or five times a year. Tony Pollard, and his wife, the owners maintain very high standards of food quality, not only with fish and chips but... More

We came here with a friend of the family who told us the food was amazing. The hodge podge of seating areas gives the restaurant a quirky feel, but don't let that fool you as the food is in fact AMAZING! I love fish and chips and this was the best I had my entire time in the UK. The... More

Have been going here for years and just love the homeliness and nostalgia of this place. It's not fancy but that's what's charming about it. It's clean and always a cheerful atmosphere. The chips and gravy can sometimes be bland but more often than not, they are tasty, cooked in beef dripping. I love this gravy, real beef bits and... More

Once again had a lovely fish and chip supper at Grandma Pollards. My wife had the homemade cheese and onion pie, which she thinks is one of the best she has ever tasted. Reading the review below I guess some people just don't get this place. It's special because of the family tradition, quirky arrangements, Tony and his freebie 'dabs',... More

On our recent trip to the Yorkshire Dales we based ourselves in a cottage close to Walsden, Todmorden. The greatest discovery we made in this area was without a doubt Grandma Pollards Chippy. I have no idea what oil or dripping they fry their excellent fish and chips in but what I can say my wife and I both agreed... More

Visited Grandma Pollards for the first time on a Tuesday lunchtime. An unusual and confusing set up. You queue in the chip shop, order then are given a number and go out of the shop then back in through another door. There are a number of eating areas, in a small bus behind the shop, a number of outdoor tables... More

Very unusual place but full of character, excellent, efficient, friendly staff but above all, extremely tasty fish and chips, probably the best we have ever tasted. True northern spirit, you will not be disappointed.
