The texture ,freshness sweetness and taste were perfect. But it got better. The brilliant assistant Jan noticed I'd finished the chips and peas... read more

"Arguably the best chippy in the world" it says on their website. No argument about as far as I'm concerned. I consider myself as a bit of a connoisseur as far as fish & chips go, & I can say without doubt they are amongst the best I've had in living memory. OK, so the parking is a bit tight... More

Brilliant fish and chips. All freshly cooked and sensible portions. The gravy is amazing if you're a chips and gravy fan. And the vanilla slices... wow. It must be good if they can afford to be shut at the weekend don't you think...?!?

A local institution, I had to go once. You can eat in and look at the canal behind but on this occasion I collected a take away. It was good but not exceptional and quite expensive. An efficient production line, it was well attended the day I went. This is perhaps unsurprising given it is not open that frequently. Many's... More

Grandma Pollard's is a bit of an institution in this area. People come from miles around to enjoy fish and chips or home made pies either in the restaurant or to take away. It's still very much a family concern, the owner, Tony Pollard, often serving behind the counter. Fish is cooked to order, so you may have to wait... More

I have visited Grandma Pollards for the second time, it just gets better, I had the most fantastic fish and chip meal with lots of bread and butter and oceans of hot piping tea, what a great atmosphere with convenient parking and lovely back ground music and to top it all I met Tony Pollard, what a gent, and he... Visit Ma pollards chippy once or twice a months and never had a problem. Food is always hot and delicious and the ladies and the owner tony are always pleasant. Sitting inside or outside is always nice and food is delivered very quickly. Only flaw I would say is that on busy periods there should be more space to sit... More
