We had lunch in the garden and had wonderful service. House wine was excellent and the food was plentiful. We got two cheese plates and two meat plates as our first course (there were 9 of us) but we should have ordered only one of each. It was delicious, especially the cheese, but they were quite large. The pasta courses... More

We travel to Italy 2-3 times each year, and we've visited San Quirico many times. This restaurant is located down one of the side streets in San Quirico, just off the main square. It’s cozy and cute and in winter there is a real fire going in the fireplace. The restaurant was very popular with locals and was quite crowded,... More

We have spent few days around Montalcino and if I would be asked to choose one restaurant to return it would surely be vecchio forno. although it is not a "small family run restaurant in Tuscany" what all tourists are looking for, it is very very good. Try pasta with duck and very fresh and tasty meals from the daily... More

We really wanted to love this place. We were staying at the hotel and having looked at trip advisor we booked a table right away with high hopes for a great meal. We at out in San Quirico for lunch but were so disappointed with the food at Al Vecchio Forno. The staff were excellent and the setting in the... More

This was one of those two hour amazingly delicious lunches on a lazy Sunday, where we shared a plate of Caprese salad with mozzarella dripping with freshness and unbelievably flavorful tomatoes; fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with ricotta cheese - unreal; absolutely perfectly executed picci with wild board ragout; sublime tagleatelle with porcini, despite the fact that porcini were dried and... We came to Vitozza, and after a great walk we headed to this restaurant right in center of San Quirico. Place was empty, owners played with children inside. Still, we were welcome, put at the best table, and the food was simply irreproachable - local mushrooms soup, cozze, semifreddo - everything was delicious. And great service. Grazie mille!

Kid friendly wonderful ambiance in Tuscany. The food was amazing and their wine selection is to die for. We had an amazing experience and the food was fantastic. The tables are outdoors so you have to be okay with occasional bugs but other than that everything was wonderful.

We had excellent meals almost everywhere over six days in the Siena province, but this may have been the best. We didn't have pasta here, but had an antipasto consisting of vegetables in pastry and an excellent pork dish with a honey mustard nut sauce, though I can't recall if it was walnuts or hazelnuts. Light and creamy panna cotta... More

The place we enjoyed lunch three years ago was not open on a Monday so in some trepidation we peeped into the Vecchio Forno and from there on all was bliss. The place was already lively with a couple of large groups but we were able to get a seat in the large garden and enjoyed watching the Italians at... More
