Excellent food and service

If you are staying in San Quirico be sure to stop and eat here at least once. The food is excellent and tasty. Also, if you are staying in one of the Capitano's hotels, you'll get 10% discount.

We were only in the city for a few days, but we found that this restaurant was so good that we'd go again a second night. The selection of cured meats and cheeses was a great way to start the meal - also requesting the waiters advice on a nice tuscan wine was a great idea, he chose something reasonably... More

Today I was fortunate to have dined at Al Vecchio Forno in Pienza for lunch. Restaurant is located in a small town in Toscana. The establishment exude excellent service and Toscana food that truly represent the region. Mio pranzo per oggi include egg with white truffle as an appetizer. Toscana steak fillet with white truffle and fresh pasta with truffle... More

If you are looking for dishes with white truffles during the season (fall) this is a wonderfully cozy place. Not too large with great service and a very nice menu. It was our first night in Tuscany and we kind of over did it on eat truffles but it was a fun and delicious experience.

So we showed up on a cold and rainy day with two girls and had a great lunch. Finally something different on the menu in Italy!! We were so tired of the same pasta and really bad pizza dishes. The food was great and the service even better. Loved this town and no tourists in the winter.

We ate at Al Vecchio Forno three years ago and again this past November for dinner. It is a lovely place, set right in the historic part of San Quirico d'Ocrca. The ambience is cozy and warm and the staff all very nice. The menu is extensive as is the wine list. Everything that we ordered was delicious and we... More

Perhaps this restaurant is coasting on their many Tripadvisor reviews. But even that doesn't explain the poor service and litany of errors we encountered during our dinner in September. And keep in mind that this is not a small family-owned restaurant, but part of the Capitano Luxury Hotel Collection, so they must know better. I'm left assuming that the many... More

We had the best meal in all of Italy at this restaurant. We have been to italy 15 times all over the country and by far this was one of the best meals we have ever had. I am a food critic in nyc and believe me when i say this is a don't miss experience. If only i could... More

The place is nice, and food is good, as nearly everywhere in Val d'orcia, but is not outstanding. Good choice of wine. Maybe a bit expensive compared to others.
