Not good

Decided to treat ourselves to lunch out but were very disappointed. The food was expensive and my choice of confit of duck leg salad with plum and pomegranate dressing was a bad one. I have just been to Dick Hudsons today for lunch and ordered the fish and chips at the bar and paid upfront. When my food eventually arrived, the batter on my fish was very brown. My fish had been over cooked and I could not even cut into it, let alone chew it. I mentioned it to the waiter and... More

How much praise can you shower on this establishment - took the precaution of reserving a table as we were five persons who had travelled some 40 miles for a family event. The atmosphere - BRILLIANT - the food tip top in particular the Merlot steak pie which was excellent. The restaurant was heaving with satisfied customs - Just thinking... More

Very cosy pub with beautiful decor and a very lovely outlook across the Yorkshire countryside. We had a great family lunch with friendly service and generous helpings. The endless jug of gravy philosophy is great. I would recommend this place to anyone

Well it's been a long time - Feb 2014 - since I last ate here (and was rather disappointed) but pleased to report I found things much improved the other week. Diane & I and Daughter Robyn stopped off on our way back from Robyn's graduation at Leeds Uni, mainly since time was tight for getting something to eat &... More

The place was quite busy when we arrived. Got a table by the window with great views. We ordered gammon which wasn't very hot, two prawn cocktails (consisted of lettuce and a few small prawns), nicest part was the bread, garlic bread and chips. The prawn cocktail was so boring and tasteless and not worth the money. The garlic bread... More

We went for my fathers 98th birthday. We asked for Sunday lunch ie roast beef etc. when this came it was clear it had been cooked several hours previously and warmed up . Over cooked meat and undercooked veg. Horrible. They knocked £20 off the bill but this was not the point. It spoilt the occasion

We visit Dick Hudson's on a fairly regular basis, about once or twice every couple of months. They maintain their standards very well. What is nice to see is some of the staff have been there quite a while. I think there is now a relatively new manager, just hope he/she manages to keep up the standard!! The food is... More
