Breakfast drinks

Always enjoy the breakfast here, cooked to order and very tasty. One wish however, would be for the coffee/tea to be 'unlimited' because they are not cheap and as there is often a bit of a wait for the food to arrive, you need to order a second cup (rather reluctantly !) how about it Irvins ?

Irvin's doesn't have the best view over the river, but it makes up for it in style. The spacious interior is simple and elegant and it's great sitting near the open kitchen watching the chefs at work. The only problem with this is that as you watch the orders going out, they all look so good it's hard to decide... More

Nice location on trendy Fish Quay. Nice friendly ambiance and staff and good quality food. Only downside was slow service on our Sunday lunchtime as short staffed. Well worth a visit

I have been to Irvin's twice now and had mixed experiences. The interior is very nice, open kitchen - great and seafood doesn't get much fresher. But, there is one big fat problem... they aren't very accommodating to coeliacs. Gluten free is not a fad diet for some people, it's a medical diagnosis. It's really lovely going into a food... We need not have booked - on a holiday Saturday lunchtime it was half empty. Most if us had the fish and chips, since we were in the Fish Quay, but were a little disappointed with fish being a little soggy! Was it the fresh fish we had hoped for?? Desserts great but overall not as good an experience as... More

We went en famille on 16th. April 2015. Food, service excellent as usual. Brill, hake, mussels all properly cooked. My cheese board was fab. Short wine list but good selection and well priced.

Meal was generally good. Confit duck good. Hake was tasty, as was the Halibut if a little on the small side for the price, Dressed Crab and Liver seemed satisfactory. Having said that after explaining to the waiter that my Mother-in-law was gluten-free they still managed to serve a non-gluten free meal after promising that she could have anything on... More

Visited for a Birthday meal on 15th April 2015 with my partner and two sons, 14 and 21. The food on offer is imaginative and interesting however even having my two sons with us (boys this age can be not very adventurous in the food department!) this did not cause a problem as they were very keen to try something... I visited the resauarant a couple of weeks ago and I was really shocked by the service. Throughtout the course of the evening the waiter made quite a few inappropriate comments that really spoilt my experience. As soon as we sat down my partner unfortunately knocked the salt pot off the table and it smashed. When the waitor came with... More

Located on the fish quay in North Shields, I love the setting of this restaurant. It has a relaxed classy bistro feel to it and the food is delicious. Really light fresh seafood - which I personally love. I wouldn't eat here if you're not a fan of fish/seafood etc. For me, however, it was perfect! This is probably the... More
