Best fish and chips in the area

Have tried a few fish and chip shops in North Shields but this is the best, both in terms of food and value for money. There is nearly always a queue out the door as it is so popular, but don't be put off by this as you never have to wait too long, and it is definitely worth the... read more

I've been getting fish and chips from the Waterfront for many years and it occurred to me recently that I'd never reviewed the restaurant. A massive oversight which I intend to rectify here. The staff could not be more helpful (I often ring ahead) and the fish and chips are the best in the area by far! the seating areas... More

The fish and chips are wonderful. There's an pensioners special Monday to Friday this makes a great lunch with tea also bread and butter. You sometimes have to queue due to its popularity but it's never a long wait. They have a take away section that again is always busy. The staff are very efficient and friendly and promptly deliver... More

I like fish & chips! I've had it, and variations on it, all over the world, but to be perfectly honest I've never had better than at The Waterfront. Just occasionally it hasn't been quite as good as usual, but those occasions are like hen's teeth! About seven quid for beautifully cooked haddock fresh off the Fish Quay (ye can... More

After eating and reviewing the heralded Hadleys at Whitby (what a disappointment), I decided that it would be unfair if i didn't do ones local to me. Anyway, ate here last week with my friend and I thought the fish and chips were excellent. I had haddock and my mate had pie. The chips were superb, the mushy peas were... More

We love the Waterfront. The staff are always efficient, friendly and never rude. It's good value for money and the service is always quick. We always bring our overseas visitors here to experience proper English fish 'n chips. Posh it isn't. It's plain good down to earth eating. We've been coming here for years and we hope to continue enjoying... More

Really enjoyed our take out earlier in the week, the batter was lovely and crispy as were the chips. The restaurant was full but not too long a wait for the take out.

The fish and chips are always good, really fresh tasty fish. The senior citizens special is fantastic value. So when only good fish and chips will 'hit the spot' the Waterfront is the place to go. Also great service from the waitresses.
