I visited the flying dutchman with my wife and friends today. The staff were very pleasant and polite. We had the food from the menu and it was exellent. The carvery looked good and was busy from when we got to when we left. Will definatley return their again.

Great outside and the new owner is improving it all the time once inside the righthand bar has soft seating with settees also a pool table which has a relaxed atmosphere. If you go to the left, food is served here so lots of tables and chairs you can book for the carvery, which is excellent, service can be a... More

Another pleasant evening at the "Dutchy" (Flying Dutchman). Home made steak and ale pie to die for, not too busy but comfy, considering January is notoriously quiet everywhere.... I hope people won't be put off by the comments of 'theguvnr29'... In a previous review.... He should have made his complaint to the management at the time... It would have been... More

Mid week last min visit, few diners but chef was rude because he was busy, needless to say our mood was spoilt and we went home for pudding! Bar man was nice real shame for the chefs attitude I wondrous how he copes when they really are busy. Put off going back.

We would like to stress that we take every complaint and remark seriously, so having read that the chef was rude we apologise and he has been spoken to. Regarding his sense of humour we have found a remedy, we have been in touch with Gerry Cottles hotline and they have agreed he can attend clown school on day release.... More

In naval terms a wide berth is needed for this place !!! The saying you pay for what you get isn't true when you eat here. The carvery was awful, the best part was the frozen yorkshires, the potatoes were not roasted they were "floppy" and think they was just shown the oven but never entered it, 2 of the... More

We are whole heartedly offering our apologies to anyone who received food from our carvery for a short period of time on Sunday that wasn't up to correct temperature, we were only made aware because a regular customer pointed it out to us, it was a faulty element and it was rectified as soon as it was brought to our... On Sunday 21st December we took our Aunt to The Flying Dutchman for lunch. We enquired as to if we had to book but it wasn't necessary. As she is in a wheelchair we found it easy to get the wheelchair indoors and plenty of room at the table for her. It was a carvery lunch, pork, beef, turkey, roast... More
