Third visit to this beautiful country inn partway between Chard and Honiton, just off A303. The quality of the food, choice of cask ales, service and overall ambience was, as always, impeccable. Great place for a special occasion. If there is one minor criticism it would be that the menu could do with refreshing.

My husband and I had an excellent meal here tonight. Despite the place being packed we were served promptly and very efficiently. We were not hurried and our every need was catered for. The food was delicious and this place is definitely on our list of favourites in the area - well done!

Wanted a good quality meal on the last night of our family holiday and spotted Candlelight on Trip advisor so arrived at 8.10 with high expectations. Had two kids with us and were keen not to eat too late. Lovely interior, warm friendly welcome. Waitress explained was an unusually busy thurs eve but by 8.30 was seated and ordered. 2... More

I had met a friend on Sunday and we decided we wanted to go somewhere for lunch, but we had two dogs and a baby in tow, we found this place on the internet, and were impressed by the signage, this gave it a look of class, so I phoned ahead and asked the cheerful lady who answered the phone... More

Visited on a Saturday lunch time, there were 4 of us, we looked at the menu and decided on some sandwiches and scotch eggs. I must say these were by far the best sandwiches ever! I had a smoked trout which was beautiful, the scotch eggs were also to die for! We are not from the local area, but our... More

My sister, mother and I had a delicious Sunday lunch today at the Candlelight Inn. The service was prompt, the atmosphere welcoming and the food delicious…. all three courses! A wonderful place to make a pit stop, just off the A303. We will definitely be back.

Nice welcome, nice atmosphere, nice menu, nice service, nice decor, clean loos. The owners and staff of this pub/restaurant work hard to produce excellent food at a reasonable price. Interesting menu and a good wine list. Nice beers. Not far off the A303 and worth turning off for. Not far from Taunton and Chard. Gotta be one of the best... More

Last month I went to dine here with my partner, a really lovely welcome by the barman who then served us our drinks and handed us the menus, a tough choice but we both settled for the steak! When it arrived my mouth was watering a huge steak and lovely garnish, perfectly cooked! The beer selection is great and well... More

Four of us had lunch here today, together with two hot dogs. We chose a table in the pretty terraced garden and the very hospitable barman came out and took our order. Although lunch involved a rather long wait, drinking cool lagers in such pleasant surroundings could not have been nicer and when out meals finally arrived were well worth... More

We went here with friends for an evening meal. Despite our taxi drivers not knowing where it was we had a great evening and the food was lovely. It's out of the way so a taxi is a must (would help if they knew it of course!) but it was well worth the trip. All the food was presented really... More
