The Gallery Chard

We stopped off in Chard for a snack, on our weekend break to WestBay. We saw the sign and arrived in an enclosed entrance with some tables and chairs. The owner Tracy showed us to the gallery. We went along the corridor up ,some stairs, where there were paintings by local artists displayed. This... read more

About seven or eight years ago we moved to Chard in Somerset and went out to look for a good coffee/tea house and as we are lunchtime people, a good lunchtime restaurant/cafe. One of the places we chose in Chard was an upstairs establishment behind a bookshop. It looked interesting but we were so disappointed. The other customers stared at... More

We chose this restaurant for a lunch after reading previous reviews, we weren't disappointed. Ignoring the unassuming entrance you go up stairs to find a light and airy, relaxed eating area. The meals are cooked to order using quality produce.

I've only recently started using The Gallery and what a great little find. Whether you have a coffee and a lovely slice of carrot cake or something more substantial, I heartily recommend it. The art for sale on the walls make for really nice surroundings while you eat and the owner is a really pleasant and funny guy too.

This cafe is terrific but suffers from a poor street presence. Ignore the slightly forbidding entrance and go up to the gallery. You won't be disappointed. The ambiance is great, everything is spotlessly clean, and the food is very good value. If we lived in chard we would go here often.

I generally go in for a daily coffee and a chat with Simon who is joint proprietor along with Tracy his wife. When my wife and I have gone for a meal it has been beautifully cooked by Tracy who is a qualified Chef and well worth the money. Don't be put off by the small frontage as it opens... More

Lovely place and yummy food! Good value for money. Could do with having a wider vegetarian selection though please.

Been to another coffee shop in Chard which claims to be the best in town. Don't believe it. The Gallery has a far nicer ambience and is light and bright with local artwork adorning the walls. The staff are very pleasant and friendly and made me feel welcome. Had the Americano and it was delicious accompanied by a morish cookie... More
