We went here based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor and recommendations from our host expecting complete yumness but instead we left with our taste buds asking for flavor. I tasted the corn in just about everything from the sampler we ordered but everything from the tamales to the yucca dessert was just so-so.

After our tour of Rio Celeste, Brother Adventure Tours brought us here to try comida tipica! This was homestyle cooking! I definitely would recommend it and wish I read reviews so I could sample some of their other food dishes.

This felt like proper home cooking. We had no idea what anything on the menu was, so we just pointed and smiled, and had some great food. I think we might have had dessert first, though....

Discovered this little corn house on a trip to Tenorio back in February when staying in Ocotal for a couple of months. Became a weekly trip (1 hr 20 min drive) Absolutely fabulous simple Costa Rican food! I think we've tried everything on the menu, we always order way too much! No worries, everything tastes great the next day! Just... More

We were staying at Tenorio Lodge nearby and came in for lunch one day, not sure what to expect. We were not disappointed, had some some great, tasty, no-nonsense real CR food. Best plantains we ate on our trip. The waitress was very patient while we tried to figure out what everything was (we actually preferred having to try and... More

This had the best food in Bijagua. The ladies here was very talented at making dinner just right. They don't speak much English at all - but even WE were able to muddle our way through it. EXCELLENT!

Casita de Maiz is a small, no-frills restaurant a few miles from Volcan Tenorio National Park. Corn is the staple here, as you might guess from the name of the restaurant. Their tamales are good, and the chorreadas are even better! Everything is very cheap, so you get excellent value for your money. The place is run by a couple... More

La Casita del Maiz is a simple little place a short distance west of the main part of Bijagua. It was very close to Sueno Celeste B&B where we were staying. All of the food items are made with corn, which from our experience in 3 trips to Costa Rica, is not real common. The food was delicious, the service,... More

We loved the freshly made tortillas served in a simple and friendly atmosphere. There's a good selection of meals made from maize.
