I had a wonderful meal here that was one of the eating highlights of my trip. The staff treated me wonderfully. Each dish I had was simple and very good. I would recommend if in Salina and I will return again.

Portobello is right on the waterfront in this remote island, and has apparently been operating in one guise or another for some 40 years. As a result they know how to cook fresh fish, and more interestingly they also serve a variety of local raw fish dishes - absolutely not Sushi, instead it is their own Aeolean home-evolved cuisine. I... More

We were there in a still warm November and whilst the restaurant was officially closed for the month, they could not have been more accommodating. Sat overlooking Lipari and SM Salina's small ferry terminal, we had a great meal of first a spaghetti dish, followed by lovely tuna steaks (with the famous Salina capers) and salad, assisted by a pichet... This lovely family restaurant right on the water overlooking the harbor serves up the best raw fish dishes I have ever tasted--nothing like sushi or seviche. Beautifully presented, flavored and solo fresh. A real gem and worth the trip to Salinas just for the lunch.

Just spent a week on Salina with friends and we stayed in Santa Marina and ate at Portobello on the recommendation of the woman who ran our accommodation. The food was good but certainly not outstanding and if you look at the trip advisor ratings this restaurant is not placed near the top at all. The setting is sensational though... More

We spent a beautiful day on Salina in late October. We found this great restaurant, small but with a terrace on the sea, by happy accident. We were approaching afternoon closing time but the owner made us welcome, took our orders and then recommended we order something else (I love that about Italy. You say "I don't want dessert" and... It is a pity that this place isn't rated among the best in the Eolian Islands. We got there by chance, after overhearing a group of locals talking about their incoming delicious dinner at Portobello. We tried it the night after and were amazed. The fish is super fresh, the owner's son (who's in charge of the kitchen, for what... More

I was persuaded to try the tuna by the waiter after trying to go for a pasta dish. He said I could have my money back if I didn't like it. Absolutely amazing fish and still think back on it. Worth splashing out and treating yourself. Look forward to coming back in the future

We really enjoyed dining here, even though it is not cheap. The chef makes a real effort to come up with novel combinations making the most of local ingredients. Stuffed squid and (raw) tuna salad were outstanding (so were the other dishes but we have forgotten the details). The wine recommendation was very unusual and matched the food perfectly (and... More
