The owner are from Portugal, their kitchen is a " metiz" between european and carribean, interesting and flaworful. Location perfect, just at see, tables not to near one to the next, service nice, even if a bit chaotic, the evening we were there, as two new people working their first day.

We dined at La Savane and had brilliant meals. The setting by the sea was charming and the staff friendly and warm. We chose a table next to a papier-mâché 6 feet plus giraffe, but he didn't make any moves on our food. Loved it.

Chic spot in Deshaies - Yotties and prices to match - nothing typically Guad about it - menu, style, ownership etc - distinctly un-local! Nonetheless bay view location & spacious layout are winning, international style food is very well presented and quite refined - tastes good, service excellent - good wine choice ~ 100eu for 2 all in for 3... I ordered "pintade aloco" to go. Once i got home, i found a half eaten pintade with several bones inside. I was disgusted. I called immediately and there was no manager or owner. I drove all the way back, gave them the food. They were indifferent which was more shocking. I will never eat there again.

We went without a reservation and were seated one table in from the water so we had a great view. The staff was friendly and accommodated our limited French. We ordered the foie gras (now illegal in CA) for our starter--it was incredible! I'd never had a preparation before with crunchy bits on top but they really set off the... More

Came ashore to eat and with no reservation could not get into our first choice. We were rather put off by the decor of La Savanne but after a walk through town decided to try it because it looked clean, bright and inviting. Were delighted by the food and service and would all definitely recommend the place. Great ambiance after... More

I leave in the area and love the menu. Don't expect traditional caribbean food, it's pretty much only french, but with a twist (some courses with local ingredients). Good service, nice vue, book a table "avec vue sur mer" and arrive well before 9pm because in Deshaies they generally don't serve late. Then just enjoy the food and wine. It... More

I stayed in Deshais for 5 months to work and for an inexplicable reason, it was the last night before I visited La Savane. It had been there, on the main street, right under my nose from the beginning of my stay. I have no idea why I didn't go before, but on my last night when I did they... More

This was typical for the are, only open on a couple for a couple of days, good food, but with no starter and a couple of drinks, €87.00 was very steep

This family run restaurant right on the water in Deshaies (pronounced "day-hey"), is a favorite of ours. Some classic French dishes as well as French Caribbean cooking. Mom works the front of the house and serves, dad and younger of two daughters are in the kitchen while older daughter serves. If your french is marginal the older of the two... More
