This place has a good Spanish feel inside, but initial service is slow (staff more interested in having a beer and a smoke outside). I wanted good fish, ignored the fact that the place was empty (compared to nearby choices) and put my faith in what appeared to be the most Spanish restaurant on the row. Big mistake, the mixed... This lovely restaurant with an amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea was recommended by the hotel clerk. The ladies who served us were so nice and accommodating. We filled ourselves with such an array of fresh seafood and local wines that we had to take a taxi back to Tossal d'Altea for an afternoon nap. One of the best meals... More

Usually eat in a lovely restaurant not too far from here........wish we had stuck to what we know! Waited for at least 15 minutes before we even were asked if we wanted a menu1 After giving our choice...another 15 minutes and waiting almost 45 minutes for our paella........wish we hadn't bothered! Mixed paella was tasteless and the contents of meat... More

Ordered a Black Rice (peeled shrimp, cuttlefish, squid and squid ink) for two, a dish we are very familiar with from numerous travels in Spain. Dish was light on shrimp, even lighter on the cuttlefish and squid, well they were non-existent. When asked if we would like anything else at the end of our meal, we expressed our disappointment and... More

The waiters where busy and did not follow up good enough. The starters came at different time. The service could be better. The food was okay, but not with anything especially. The starters with homemade potatoes (should be more crispy and spicy) and the fish was anynomous. Boring starters. The dinners where ok. Good portions, but maybe to well done.... More

Before Bodegon Pepe moved to its new location, this was a place to go for simple spanish food, in lovely surrounding with not knifes and forks(you had to use your fingers) They mainly served sardines, mussels and other finger food and it was super fun. Now in there new location, the food is average and overpriced. A real shame that... More

As a family we ordered sardines and mussels which are just what they say, gorgeous fresh sardines, fried to order with garlic and served with bread and olive oil - and the mussels are a mountain of mussels to be devoured with the fingers. Been to Pepe's whenever i'm in Altea and it never varies in quality or friendly service.... More
