Gastro!

We enjoyed the tapasmenu very much. Especially the croquetas with boletus and truffle and the hamburger. Nice atmosphere. Our daughter enjoyed the solomillo and the very smooth pork with mashed potatoes. She ate both our servings!

This little wonder is located slightly off the main street of Altea. If you go under the arches near the Helado shop and turn left then follow the road, take a sharp right and you'll see it. My partner and I were on the hunt for some 'proper Spanish food' as there are many Italian restaurants in the old town... More

A rare opportunity to eat quality food without the usual bollox that comes with it. Even the children though it was fantastic. Will be back!

we visited this restaurant this friends and what a great little gem. Very small and quirky and recommend you book at this time of year. We had a selection of tapas and then the homemade burgers! If you are at the old town in Altea and fancy classy tapas at a sensible price!

We went in without browsing any reviews, a big surprise and surely one of the best restaurant in Spain among the few cities we've visited. Carpaccio of scallops and lime sorbet- thinly sliced scallops taste really fresh, delighted with lime sorbet Sea urchin's gratin cream - I usually don't eat sea urchin but I do love this creamy texture 'False'... Hats off to the owner/ operators/ chef's here. Atmosphere is authentic and charming. Out waiter who was running the upstairs was named Thomas and he was very accommodating. The wine selection was like the food offerings, varied and excellent w local offerings. Thomas recommended a local Chardonnay, unoaked and most excellent. We like to start here early with tapas then you don't have to book a table. The dishes are nice. The staff friendly. From Xef Pirata we walk to El Castell to share a pizza with salad. Then we tootle off to QVO for ice cream. Unless we have enough space left and we visit Sabors for pastries.

We simply like this place. The food is very nice. There are various dishes that we like a lot. The service is pleasant and friendly. It's not too expensive. But please do book a table.

Fortuntely, contrary to the beautiful mountain range of Bernia which no political party has avoided to let it become "a mountain of ugly constructions" those "in power" have left the old town of Altea as it was. There are many restaurants around, but for the hungry traveller who does not want to spent too much money for too few quality,... More
