La Palapa is immaculate, with fantastic seafood right on the Gulf of Mexico

After our Celestun flamingo tour, we were ravenous and stumbled upon La Palapa, a comely, open-air restaurant on the white sand beach of Celestun. The wait staff spoke excellent English and were incredibly accommodating, particularly since I had a stomach upset the day before, bringing me plain... read more

This restaurant has a very nice view and great food. A nice atmosphere. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp and I had another excellent pasta dish with shrimp. All was delicious and the price was good.

We stayed with our children to eat and swim on the beach. The beach has many boats tied on the shore and with the waves pushing you around we ended up moving our children all the time so they wouldn't get hurt. The beach was clean and we found lots of sea shells. Our children found starfish and got a... More

This is a pleasant open air restaurant, nothing fancy, where they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We had pork and chicken flavored with Mayan spices and wrapped in banana leaves, cooked in a pit. Delicious is an understatement; it was delicious and fall off the bone tender. The owner seemed to take a personal interest... More

We had lunch here after visiting the Reserve. The food was good, the service great and the atmosphere beautiful. After lunch, we took a walk on the gorgeous beach.

Five of us had a late lunch here, road weary and hungry! The beer was cold, the service friendly and none of us were disappointed by what we ordered. I had the Cervich en crema epazote (Shrimp in an epazote cream sauce) and it was one of the best meals I've had in Mexico. Others had other shrimp or fish... More

Clean basic venue on the beach . Nothing fancy, plastic tables and chairs from your favorite soda company. Beer is cold, service is nice , fresh tasty seafood with good selection and large portion. This restaurant is located in a midsize fishermen village , overall worth the stop while you are there.

Ate here for lunch with some friends, I have to eat Gluten Free, so when I go out to eat, it can be challenging to express my needs, but it worked out perfectly! They made fresh shrimp cooked in olive oil and garlic, they understood that clean utensils and a clean cooking area was extremely important. I was very happy... More

Not the best place but food is good and service is average; 500g lobster for 375 pesos (30 USD) in not bad... Right in front of the beach, no AC but changing rooms and beach showers make the deal....

Lovely atmosphere, but our fish was NOT at all fresh. There is no excuse for serving nasty old fish in a place like this. Not sure if they thought we wouldn't notice or just didn't care -- the response to my complaint was a shrug. Fortunately the French fries were pretty good, so at least there was something to eat.
