Good food and stylishly decorated (but there ARE bones)!

The restaurant is stylish and comfortable, and the food is very good, but they are still yet to furnish us with fish 'sem esinhas' as advertised. The outside eating area, whilst partitioned off, still runs alongside a fairly busy (and often dusty) road. The view across the promenade and marina to... read more

I had the sardines as a starter. I had expected fresh fish, after all this restaurant is just across from the Atlantic and specializes in seafood, instead I was served cold marinated sardines with cold yams. Terrible. The wild sea bass, I had the whole fish, was good but overcooked. The vegetables were mush i.e. cooked to death. The wine... More

The view across the promenade and marina to the river Guadiana and Spain is quite spectacular though.... More

Nicely located, easy to find, with view to Guadiana river. Just today we had a lunch here. Very nice impression! Our octopus was exellent. Being on diet we didn´t try the desserts, but they did look very nice indeed! The restaurant has nice cellaret on exposition and quite pretty decor. P.S. There are dishes for children and playground.

Excellent food and very good service. We accepted the recommendations "barriga de atum braseada" and "emincé de camarão" and it was above our expectations. The staters were also good.

This was one of the best meals we had the pleasure of having during our week of vacations in Tavira (although we visited other parts of the eastern side of the Algarve). The service was very pleasant and not too intrusive, making great suggestions in terms of food & wine, and we felt very much like it was worth the... More

Had to try this place after reading the reviews. And it did not disappoint. The ingredients were fresh and very tasty. I had the tuna and salmon carpaccio, which was pretty good - reminded me of Sushi Samba in London, which is pretty great. I then had a prawn "curry", with rice and plums. That was a blast. It tasted... More

There is a reason the discerning TripAdvisor reviewers have ranked this restaurant #1. It is one of those few places where you will remember everything you ate even if you didn't really care for it. We've been a few times now over a couple of years and have felt very good for days afterward. The staff are helpful, friendly in... More

We had dinner at Sem Espinhas near the end of September: the restaurant is well located: near the river and near on of the busiest VRSAntonio streets. I had a seared tuna and my boyfriend had flounder with shrimp. Both were delicious and the presentation was beatiful. The waiter was really nice, very helpful, and really put us at ease... More

We were recently holidaying in the area of Vila Real and had been recommended Sem Espinhas. Our first visit was fantastic! My husband and I shared a cataplana dish which was absolutely lovely. We were meeting up with some friends a few days later and suggested that we eat at Sem Espinhas as our previous experience had been so good.... More

Specialising in fish (Sem Espinhas means without fish-bones) and located opposite the marina; the restaurant has a raised platform outside seating area with glass panels. Inside was air-conditioned and pretty smart. There is so much choice in VRSA that most people wander around until they see somewhere that "will do" and hope for the best. This place is worth seeking... More
