I can't say enough about the cooking class that was held by Chef Moreno. We didn't know what to expect and since we only had two days on Lake Como we were a little concerned about spending a full day at the cooking class. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! Chef Moreno has so... More

Our party of 8 signed up for a cooking class/demonstration with Chef Moreno. We were staying in Varenna and he picked us up in the Piazza and transported us to his magical restaurant. He is very passionate about food and life. His stories and comments while he prepared the wonderful meal were delightful. This was a special experience and I... More

I read about this restaurant in "Rick Steves Italy 2014". This was the highlight meal of our 6 week trip around Europe. My husband says it is probably the best meal he has ever eaten. The whole meal was wonderful but the risotto with porcini mushrooms and berries was superb. We will be returning and next time I will do... More

We visited the this restaurant when we stayed at the Ca' Novae B&B. The owner and chef was a wonderful host and his food was amazing. Anyone going to the Lake Como region should make an effort to go and eat here. We will be certainly returning.

Now if you are looking for a cooking class and a fabulous bit of Italian food this is the place to be. We learned a bunch about cooking and not just Italian food. Highly recommend booking a class from 10:30am 'till 5pm - all the wine you can drink and plenty to sample and the lessons. You won't need an... More

Fabulous host! Fantastic menu and wine. Driven to a quaint and historical restaurant in the hills above Lago de Como. Moto Guzzi owner served my favorite meal of my 2 weeks in northern Italy! The risotto stunned me. Don't miss this one.

My friends and I decided to try the restaurant after reading about it in a guidebook. The cost looked reasonable and the excerpt mentioned that the restaurant would pick diners up in the piazza in Varenna (the restaurant is located high in the hills above Varenna). Il Caminetto exceeded our expectations! We had the best meal of our vacation and... More

We visited the restaurant and Chef Moreno for one of his cooking lessons. For the price we got coffee, meats/cheeses and then a pasta dish, roast pork and also risotto with lots of wine. Chef Moreno is engaging, friendly and full of amazing knowledge. They made special effort to cater for me (gluten free) which in Italy can be hard.... More
