There are two restaurants to experience when you stay at Villa D'Este. Also Il Gatto Negro.

The attraction food wise was the island restaurant for lunch =. You just have to try it! Everything is fresh and freshly prepared. If you drive up the road towards Lugano you will come to Il Gatto Negro (the Black Cat) restaurant. Make a reservation, The view and the food are very good. Ipromise... read more

We actually travelled here a number of years ago but I was just relating to a work colleague how good this restaurant was and that he should plan his holiday around it, so I thought I should share the information. I had read of this restaurant and was quite, quite excited to visit. Reservations made, expectations laid and exceeded. The promise of a simply prepared luncheon was a celebration in flavors primarily produced with only for enrichments, damn fine extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon, sea salt and pepper. Table set on a veranda looking north on the lake, the... More

Went here for lunch as part of a tour. Food was mostly good, but the whole experience felt a little theatrical. It's a 5 or 6 course meal, depending on how you count. Started out very well, unusual caprese with lemon instead of balsamic, then fabulous antipasti -- lots of lightly sauteed vegetables, some prosciutto, etc The next course, "salmon... More

WOW, did not disappoint. After 7 weeks in Italy, we all loved this very relaxing LONG lunch. My kids 6 and 10 years enjoyed this too and didn't moan once!! The food and wine was simple, delicious and abundant. Rustic Italian at it's best. Loved starting with masses of deliciously prepared vegetables and warm bread thrown (literally) on the table.... Went here to 'break bread' if you will with my wifes family and mine for the first time The setting is unbelievable and you get to see both sides of como as opposed to just looking at the opposite side of the lake The food was fantastic from start to finish. Service was very accommodating. Remember, you are going here... More

We stayed in Bellagio and used the water taxi service to reach this restaurant. The restaurant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. This place has an amazing traditional buzz about it. Whilst the food is a set menu and fixed price this is by no means a negative. Food was great, service fantastic and the fixed price... More

Upon a recommendation by friends (who had dined there before) we traveled to Locanda from Lezzeno via mid-lake boat for lunch. We were greeted by Benvenuto Puricelli, the owner of the restaurant. We were led to a lakeside side on the patio and afforded a fabulous view of the lake. Over the next three (3) hours we enjoyed a five-course... More

We arrived by boat and were welcomed by the very friendly and unpretentious staff who showed us to our table at the edge of the patio area overlooking the lake. The food was rustic as it was intended to be but having served the same menu since 1947 everything is done to perfection. As the sun went down our first... More
