It was the first time I have been in Yvoire, a nice middle aged village. The time has stopped here, The restaurant is just crossing one of the arcs of the wall. Charming ambience, and delicious food. I ordered snails, delicious, and as a main course risotto with shrimps and Saint Jacques, very good and tasty; probably the rice a... More

When I visited my friend in Geneva, she took me to this special restaurant. She is coming here often and.....she did not lie a bit about their food. Good quality and the fish from the Lake was delicious. It is a cosy place to be and the atmosphere is relaxing. The staff is very helpful and friendly. When you visit... More

We had (wrongly) assumed that this place would serve a different kind of food to the usual "tourist traps" in Yvoire because of the Michelin sticker on the board out front. Not so. The view is nice, the tables comfortable and the waiters ok. The champagne kir was nice. But the food was quite honestly terrible, from starter to desert.... More

its not fine dining, but the portions are excellent and the quality is very good. i had the local speciality of perch from the lake and an addictive rose wine. the deserts were awesome, and i recommend the chocolate confection. the view across the lakeis atmospheric and you can eat as you watch the sunset.

Two "seniors", we were warmly welcomed by attentive staff who ensured we were comfortably seated, giving us a choice of inside or terrace dining. The meals we had were delicious and very attractively presented. The advice we received about appropriate wines for our meals was spot on. The interior decor is an interesting blend of old and new and the... More

It is the second time I eat in this restaurant, and probably not the last time. Excellent meat and 'filets de perche'. Lovely decoration and very friendly staff. In summer we can eat outside and admire the lake view. I recommend!

The excellent rating should be seen in the context of our expectations ... La Vielle Porte doesn't claim to compete with Noma or Mugaritz (two we have visited this year), but for what it is, our group thought it was top class. Great staff, friendly and warm welcome ... beautiful, old building with atmosphere. Very good food - nothing fancy... More

We discovered this delightful restaurant while walking around beautiful Yvoire on our day trip by boat from Geneva. We were warmly greeted by a gentleman, who informed us that there was one last table available. for lunch. After much thought, we decided to have the set lunch menu, and were pleased we did as the food was delicious, and very... More

The local fish is the best and view is great. This is a great boat ride to get there from Nyon Switzerland. The town is great for shopping and ice cream. La Vielle Porte has the best hours of operation and a great view of the lake. Make reservations if you want the best table. There are only a few... More
