.......we shouldn't have ordered curry in an old English pub! Two curries were very disappointing even though they were highly recommended but the fish and chips were excellent. Just made the wrong choice on the menu everything else was fine

Fabulous little place. Very understated and you would look twice at it from outside, however don't drive past go in. It's a little gem with great cask ales, local ciders, friendly staff and amazing food.

Took me back to the 1950's when I was a frequent visitor to Somerset and it's lovely old unspoilt pubs. Not many exist these days, but this is a very fine example. Flagstone floor, bare wooden bench tables, decoration is magazines, books and photos of times gone by. Overlooking it all a very jovial publican. Excellent selection of ciders, from scrumpy... More

Popped in for lunch after our visit to the cider brandy company, it was highly recommended and also sells their products. We had sandwiches and chips, the food was ok. The cajun chicken wrap was very strong a bit too much Cajun however this was refunded and apologised and handled very well. The other food received was nice and enjoyed.... More

This is an original old property complete with oak beams and stone floors. Your real old english pub, but their food is something to die for. Plenty of choices on the menu, all home cooked with local produce available. Have visited this establishment several times and each time our order was delivered well cooked and promptly, although it can get... More

The food in the Halfway is always, always excellent. Where ever we go in this country and abroad we compare chips to the Halfway, nowhere makes better chips. There is nothing fancy about the Halfway, scrubbed tables and stone tiled floors. It is a must if in the area.

If you want really good pub grub in a really quaint dingy lit pub with incredible character.......... this is it. We travel 1hr to repeatedly to enjoy this amazing food .........which is supplied in huge portions, you will not be disappointed.

it is still fab! You can book a table for a large number of people and the food is really good. Great choice of beers and ciders and lovely real log fires. the bar staff were really friendly. I had a fantastic birthday there.

I must confess.my real interest in the halfway house is its fine array of bears and ciders.but the food is pretty good too. Most items are under a tenner with good quality ingredients.very much a locals local it's slightly scruffiness adds to its informal atomosphere.great place to meet up with the gang.
