A step back in time

Really old country pub with excellent well priced food, we had the Ham and eggs and chips at £8.50 per person, a mountain of home cured ham, The burning log fire kept the place nice and warm. Pub had a good selection of Real Ales and Ciders.

Unpretentious and very friendly pub. Friday nights and Sunday lunchtimes are particularly lively and the locals are welcoming. Once the lightbulb behind the bar has been changed, it will be just about perfect.

Quite small & cosy, love that they have the fires going on a cold day, they give you free roast potatoes from the bar (and they are delicious!), serve a good range of drinks - a fabulous example of a country pub.

We have been coming here for years - and usually the experience is very positive indeed. We booked in advance as I know how busy it is at weekends - when we arrived we found that we were sharing our table with another party of two which was fine as the tables are large enough - however a party of... We are always disappointed when customers are moved to write critical reviews. As this is your first critical review of our pub from your many visits we hope you will give us another chance. More

What a gem, several people I know have mentioned the Halfway and I have been meaning to drop in. Dont be fooled by the exterior. Get into that carpark make your way into the pub and treat yourself. Weather was a bit .....!? off at lunch time and I had an hour to kill. Could have stayed for a week.... More

This place is always really popular and you need to reserve a table. Four of us had food and real ale - Summer Lightning is always a favourite. I chose fish and chips and the portion was so big it was a struggle to eat it all, but it was also very tasty. Friendly staff and good prices also. It... More

Visited for an evening meal, got there early to get a table and waited for when food was being served. Two of us ordered a veggie burger to be then told afterwards there were none! I wouldn't of minded but we ordered straight after when the board was put up so they couldn't of sold out. This then happened again... More

Lovely grub, friendly staff, really nice open fires. An old fashioned pub with flag floors and benches. There was good selection of food on offer and it seems we chose well with fish and chips, cheese pie and nachos. I am not a great drinker but my menfolk seemed happy with their cider. What's not to like?
