Never disappoints!

This place is always really popular and you need to reserve a table. Four of us had food and real ale - Summer Lightning is always a favourite. I chose fish and chips and the portion was so big it was a struggle to eat it all, but it was also very tasty. Friendly staff and good prices also. It... read more

Visited for an evening meal, got there early to get a table and waited for when food was being served. Two of us ordered a veggie burger to be then told afterwards there were none! I wouldn't of minded but we ordered straight after when the board was put up so they couldn't of sold out. This then happened again... More

This is a proper rustic country pub, the food was great, homemade style in a relaxed friendly atmosphere

Lovely grub, friendly staff, really nice open fires. An old fashioned pub with flag floors and benches. There was good selection of food on offer and it seems we chose well with fish and chips, cheese pie and nachos. I am not a great drinker but my menfolk seemed happy with their cider. What's not to like?

This was my first visit to the Halfway after it was recommended to me by a family member (and other reviews here are very positive). My review would be positive if not for some bad experiences on the night. It was extremely busy in the pub which obviously has an impact on how service is offered. When waiting at the... More

We are always disappointed when customers feel disgruntled about our pub. I understand on this occasion the pub was extremely busy and in these situations waiting times are always increased for everyone, regulars and newcomers alike. I am confident none of our staff would blank a customer in the way you suggest but we are sorry if you felt that... More

Thought that might get some attention......... It's a pity that the Halfway House represents a fast disappearing breed of pubs that were once the mainstay of everything that was quintessentially English. First off, it's somewhat in the middle of nowhere on the main road between Somerton and Langport. There is a fairly large car park that can get a bit... More

Many thanks for your detailed review of our pub. It describes us very well, warts and all!! Mark is always saying there is a fine line between rustic charm and a mess, we hope we get the balance right. Disappointed with your marks for value with beer as low as £2.50 a pint, However it's good to know you enjoyed your... More

Lovely warm welcome from the bar man along with a vast blackboard of oddly named real ales and ciders in this somerset pub along with two open wood burning fires make for a cosy night in the half way house, candle light lovely,no loud TV here just people who are enjoying the art of conversion.

Really pleased you get what we are about. Nothing better than to hear the art of conversation mixed with the drinking of fine ales. Hope to see you again soon. More

This pub is best known for its curries but 2 of us had sticky pork curry which in all honesty could have been any meat what there was of it sauce was runny no curry flavour rice was tepid on the other hand one other had faggots and the other vegetable lasagne which were excellent Service was good and very... As always we are disappointed when people don't enjoy their food. We are glad your non curry food was very acceptable to you. We hope this experience won't stop you giving us another try. More

Despite many recommendations from friends this was my first visit. Four of us met up to lunch and a few drinks. Both drivers had to remain teetotal so I have to rely of the drinkers who stated that the beer was well kept and in excellent condition. Beers sampled were Rare Breed and Summer Lightening. The menu was on the... More

Lovely, friendly pub! Arranged to meet friends here as we all live in different parts of the country, and was glad that we met there! For a Friday lunchtime it was very busy, which was great to see. The service was really good, and the food even better! Shame it wasn't closer to where we were staying as we would... More
