Great beer and hearty food

I went here with colleagues and found it very reasonable (11 Euros for pork knuckle Schweineshaxe plus one beer). It is not a sophisticated place, but serves excellent home-brewed beers and heavy, hearty German food at a decent price. I can thoroughly recommend it for an after-work drink in a... read more

I have been taking guests, family, friends and business colleagues to this restaurant for probably 10 years and have never had a bad experience or a dish served cold, or tasting less than expected. It is consistent in good service, tasty food and great atmosphere - whether dining in the cellar, the main cosy rooms or outside on a warm... More

The Brauhaus really has decent beer and quite good food. The setting is nice for a casual eve out. Although I really like the place for the microbrewery beer and the setting, I have to say that you really have to check your bill. Easily there is another drink on your bill... The Brauhaus is quite unique in the area... More

We visited Oberursel twice from Bad Homburg, which is close by. The first time we went to Mac Gowan's Irish Pub, which is closer (5 minutes or so) to the railway station. The second time we walked up through the shopping zone to the delightful old town. Just below the main old town, on Ackergasse, is the Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus, a... More

If you like hearty traditional German fare in authentic location, this is the place for you. The food is good (and the portions are large!), as is the beer, which has been brewed on site for centuries. In winter, the several rooms are very cozy (as is the tunnel-vaulted keller); in warm weather the large biergarten can't be beat.

The Brauhaus is our touchstone in Oberursel. When the kids are back from University, there îs a mandatory pilgrimage to try the current seasonal beer. It can get busy and noisy but never oppressive and the staff deal with everything with a dash of humour here or a thoughtful word there. The food is down-to-earth Brauhaus fare, so expect meat,... We went here as a group of 11 without a reservation right at the time when there were Christmas parties going on everywhere. They managed to seat us quite quickly and the service was excellent, despite the fact that the place was full. We could even eat a-la-carte. The portions were huge and very tasty, they acknowledged all our requests... More

We had heard quite a lot about the Brauhaus, all good, so a group of us decided to make an evening of it and set off there. On arrival we were guided to a table and given a menu. At a loss what to have (The menu was in English) we decided to go for the Jamboree at the table.... More

Business is what took me to Oberursel, Germany and our first business dinner was at Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus which was amazing! For such a small town, this restaurant had big beer mugs and the hax or pork knuckles, which were crispy on the outside and tender, juicy on the inside. All topped with a piece of their freshly baked bread speared... More
