Can't fault the quality of food or the service, both were excellent. Wasn't impressed with the portion size though. Fifteen euros for mousakka isn't cheap even by Myknos standards. Admittedly it was delicious but the portion size was way too small and I'm by no means greedy! It seems a shame to cook such nice food and leave you wanting... More

We first discovered this restaurant last year, and ate there twice. We returned this year, where the owner is always more than happy to walk you thru his menu. We ordered the Greek salad, grilled octopus and tomato and cheese tart as appetisers ..all very tasty and reasonably priced. I went with the main I ordered last year, lamb shank... More

The most interesting thing that I found in Bakalo was a perfect mix between traditional greek dishes (moussaka was fantastic) and original proposals offered by the chef. Big attention is gave to the choice of ingredients, selected by different greek islands. Moreover restaurant's style is very original, recreating an old greek food shop, and outside seats guarantee an enjoyable atmosphere.... More

Good quality fresh ingredients, mostly from the nearby Cyclades islands, a very good cook and friendly services. As a Greek I can confirm that this is how Greek food tastes in Greek homes!

After reading about this place on Tripadvisor I decided to try it out. I must say I was disappointed. I ate much better food elsewhere for less money. Sure the service was good and the waiter was attentive but they were not busy when I was there so I would expect that. However the food was not especially good and... More

We have traveled the world, London, Italy, Rome, Paris, Scotland, Ireland, Singapore and others, and cannot compare to the service and excellent food we had at Bakalo in Mykonos. Our waiter was very helpful in describing the dishes to us, recommended others that we likely would not have tried. We sampled the authentic spreads with wonderful fresh bread, the made... More

We found it a little tricky to find, it's west of the bus station in Laka. We were immediately welcomed and seated. The menu is Greek cuisine, with special Myconian dishes, each explained by our attentive waiter. The fish souvlaki and the grilled feta with lemon sauce were outstanding. We were so impressed we made a further reservation.

Bakolo was a different dining experience in that the staff were very helpful in choosing dishes and explaining how the restaurant got its name etc. They recommended we share the dishes, so had a Greek salad, moussaka and the fried cod. Salad and moussaka came together and then the cod when we had finished. A bit like large tapas plates!... More

2 of us ate here and just had a main meal each. I ordered a battered cod dish and my partner went for meatballs. The cod came with a cold mashed potato side which may sound odd but really works. As for the cod, it seemed as if english chippies have failed in all their attempts over the years to achieve... More
