Great old building.

Had a drink in the small garden while the sun went down overlooking the grand church. Inside the pub is unique as fab old building with candle lit tables. Very frendly staff and both had a lovely meal. Would definitely return and recommend, especially for couples.

Called in with some friends who were recommending we try eating here. Welcoming friendly staff. But food took a long time to come and out of 4 meals - one was only just warm, one looked as if it was microwaved for too long and mine was quite bland. one the positive side the last meal was said to be... Super CAMRA pub with 6 real ales and attentive staff. Popped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the establishment and quality if food. Must go back. Opposite the garage of BMW Champion Compact Cup Driver's garage of PA Roberts. A great find!

We have eaten at the Black Bear on numerous occasions, full complements to the chief! Wide menu choice to suit all tastes - booking is essential! The eating area is close to the bar and compact, but worth it!

We enjoyed top class roast beef - plenty of it with well cooked vegetables. Topped this off with delicious bakewell tart. Recommended.

Popped in for a business lunch, even the light bite was pretty impressive! Very friendly attentive staff, lovely surroundings, well worth a visit. Have eaten here in the past at night, very good food, the only point, because they class themselves as a Brasserie, don't get a table near the bar, because all tables are eatery tables and the bar... Excellent environment, excellent food, high standard, fast service with excellent staff, they really helped with my gluten free allergy, the food was gorgeous and of a very high, tasty quality! We have been going to this pub for food for a few years now but the food seems to be getting better and better. It's so fresh and natural, home... More

We were lucky to get a table here on a Sunday evening. There was a big party behind us but they were very civilised and we were in a little alcove. There was an excellent menu with plenty of choice for our nonmeat eating member. We all had fish actually Crab, prawns, salmon and smoked haddock and prawn gratin. All... More
