Eaten here several times, lunch, evenings and weekends and always been more than happy. Great food cooked to order and really friendly staff make it a great way to spend a couple of hours. We're local so it's on our doorstep but would strongly recommend anyone visiting Whitchurch to pay a visit to the Black Bear and enjoy a relaxing... More

This is a very cosy, friendly pub. The food is cooked on the premises with locally sourced ingredients. Delicious, generous portions. Altogether a delightful experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome. I'd advise anyone to call in to the Black Bear ,they won't regret it !

Loved this pub we had a fab meal, the roast beef was one of the best I had! We arrived on a Sunday without a booked and they close the kitchen at 3 pm which we didn't know. It was 3.15pm they checked with the chef and we're happy to continue serving for us. Staff really helpful highly recommend. Only... More

Everything a good pub should be. Well kept, interesting, local real ales. Great food at fair prices. The home made soup is always very good. My only slight quibble is that the menu rarely changes. I wished that one or two specials were put on so that I could ring the changes. Otherwise, fantastic.

What a great place! We were travelling from Chester to Birmingham on a Sunday and decided to stop and find somewhere for lunch in Whitchurch. The town was mostly closed but at the top of the high street was the Black Bear. The roast beef dinner was one of the best I have ever had in a pub! Would recommend... More

Visited here on 'Black Friday' busiest night in December when pubs are usually full of revellers with no consumption limit! Here with group from the local marina for Christmas meal. Service was excellent, given there looked to be only 3 front of house staff for the bar and restaurant combined. All meals were served in good time, piping hot, well... More
