First ever visit to the Black Bear despite living fairly locally for years. Excellent food and a good choice of real ale. Good character and atmosphere. CAMRA rated pub. Good menu with reasonable vegetarian choice as well. Would recommend.

The food was very good (visited after consulting trip advisor), staff were friendly + helpful. The pub was quirky, but could have been a bit cosier.

Excellent food and atmosphere traditional pub, cosy, warm, friendly, great service also. Great not being a trendy gastro pub with extortionate prices !! Will be back shortly!

This is quite a find at the top of the High Street in Whitchurch. It provides a warm welcome, despite the decor. Food is well cooked, although relatively unadventurous. Staff are attentive and polite. Worth a visit if you like a more traditional pub.
