Poor food, poor service, they have little interest in either food or service. Previous owners made much greater effort, this is now sadly lacking.
I enjoyed the decor, it reminded me of a previous trip to Italy, the food is good and the waitress was friendly. Yet I felt I was intruding. The place was empty, the owners were having a family meal in one corner and the room felt too big.
My husband & I took 2 overseas visitors to Bistro since I heard it had changed ownership. Firstly the "greeting" was rather unfriendly. LAdy owner found it too much trouble to set table outside. It was stunning weather that eve, but she felt it would be too much if it should start to rain. Ordered 1 salad & 1 "Home... More
We chose The Bistro for a family celebration based on descriptions on Trip Adviser and other sites. We were thus expecting a French/Mediterranean restaurant with a wide range of dishes. However, it has new owners since 1st December and is now an Italian ristorante with a fairly limited menu - not too different from others I had researched in the... More
We returned to dine at this restaurant after many years and found that they have managed to maintain their reputation for good quality food, a pleasant ambiance and setting, and the service was attentive. I must mention that it was a windy winter evening which kept most of the locals at home so the restaurant was fairly quiet and we... More
We were three women from the U.S. on a self driven tour of South Africa in March, 2012. Our hosts recommended this restaurant and we were delighted. We had a lovely meal with excellent, friendly service in a nicely appointed room. We had a very fun talk with Ricardo, one of the owners, during dessert. There is a coffee shop... More
The Bistro is on the southern entrance to Ramsgate, convenient for traffic coming up from the south on the old coast road. My partner and I ate supper there twice during a short stay on the South Coast. The place has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, with a large, high ceilinged, two tier dining area. The food is of a... This was the worst possible experience. This 'award winning' restaurant was a major let down. We have had the pleasure of dining at michelin 3 star establishments but also enjoy the local Wimpy and Mugg & Bean eateries. Menu advertised was traditional Turkey. We were served up Reheated Turkey Roulade! The roast potatoes were soggy and the veggies tasteless. Desert... More
We have been to the Bistro quite often and always came out happy, the food is very good and the athmosphere is what you are looking for when you go out, lovely decor, pleasant waitresses who know what they are doing, quick service, no lingering for ever waiting to be served! The hosts, Louise and Ricardo are lovely people and... More
