I grew up here when it was a gastropub - it doesn't achieve the same standards now but the food is very nice and reasonably priced. On the evening of our visit they had clearly had a few walk ins as they could have done with one more member of staff. The bar area was busy with a good atmosphere... More

Four of us went for dinner on a Thursday evening, choosing garlic prawns, home made soup and home smoked salmon for starters. We were delighted with all of them. This was followed by fillet steak tournedos, accompanied by fresh vegetables and fillet steak with chips, all were just fantastic. The desserts are not to be missed either!

Very quiet lunch time only 8 or so people in. Excellent fish pie with fresh veg. Mother had garlic chicken with salad. Vanilla chessecake was enough for two of us. very pleasant lunch. Will definetely go again.

I had a smoked salmon and prawn salad and my wife had fish and chips. Both were nicely presented and tasted good. Generous portions.Overall a lot better than the average pub meal. Total cost including a coke and J2O was 25.70. Good value.

Six of us booked a table here for dinner on Saturday evening. Hardly any customers when we arrived and very few when we left at about 9:30 p.m. The starters were delicious, especially the crab ravioli. Three of us had rump steak which wasn't so good. Various sizes of meat both in thickness and overall size. One had to be... More

Simply the best Sunday lunch we've had anywhere! Three delicious courses. Pink, tender beef with home-made Yorkshire pudding, posted and fresh vegetables. Just perfect! Booked for next Sunday already!

Visited for dinner on a Saturday evening. Absolutely freezing cold dining room, where we were left alone during the inexcusably long wait for our meal - 4o minutes from being seated at the table - with no-one even appearing to check if we wanted drinks etc; untrained and apparently completely inexperienced staff (though they were pleasant and polite); and indifferent... The outside of this village pub is nothing special, and neither is the entrance (looks like you are walking in through the front door of a house) but the food is superb! The menu doesn't have a huge choice nor could I see a vegetarian choice but all of our meals were piping hot, beautifully presented and most importantly, really... More
