Good food . Not a pub!

First the good points : it's worth finding this place. Nice rural out of the way place. Decent beers. The food is good, The bad : food expensive for what it is. Portions quite small and veg is extra. All the tables are set for eating. The only place to sit to have a drink is at the bar, or... read more

This pub-restaurant's business card announced a "Chef Proprietor", who was not present on our visit. The menu seemed to mostly comprise either pre-cooks or Ready Meals and what we had were clearly one or the other. Not cheap either. Disappointing.

This restaurant has an excellent reputation with the local community. I decided to go with my partner and parents to celebrate my 22nd birthday. The pub is beautifully quaint with thick beams and a wonderful feature clock. The food is very good quality and clearly locally sourced. My other half went absolutely nuts over the cauliflower cheese soup they were... More

A warm friendly welcome in a nice cozy environment. Great menu choices. Four of us each had 3 courses which were cooked beautifully. Both the roast beef and the pork belly with black pudding stuffing were excellent and accompanied by plenty of delicious veg.

There were 9 of us who were all involved in a charity bike ride across Wales. We had prebooked this place with the quirky name not having any idea of how good or bad it was going to be. When we arrived we were told that another party of 20 had arrived and a stag night was also in progress!... More

After having eaten quite a few times here in all seasons I have to say I have never been disappointed ! The surrounds are rural and peaceful and the welcome warm and friendly. The food is very good and excellent value for money served by pleasant and accommodating staff. The desserts are my favorite! We tend to eat here for... More

Driving back for the east Midlands to Wales stopped top see some friends in Herefordshire who suggested the Cottage of Content for lunch. After a adjusting to country lanes following a motorway cruise we safely arrived . I was not disappointed this was a wonderful sunday lunch in a different league to the usual pub fare. Plenty of a wide... More

We called in for lunch on a bright but cold March day. We were shown to a nice table in the bar by a warm fire. The menu had a good range of pub classics and specials. My wife had fish & chips and I had Herefordshire rib-eye steak (with a little help from Daisy). Both were delicious. There was... More
