This is a little gem in Veitshoechheim. Local food at its best, and an absolutely splendid local wine collection. If you are visiting the Wuerzburg region this would be an excellent place to eat and stay!

This restaurant is attractively decorated and not overdone. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. Our waiter spoke enough English to explain the menu accurately and overcome my German deficiencies. My wife's baked salmon was moist and not over-cooked. My sautéed trout was nicely spiced, perfectly cooked, and attractively served.

The "Spundloch" in Veitshöchheim offers typical Franconian cuisine and wine. My friends enjoyed their white asparagus with ham and melted cheese, but their son´s schnitzel and chips/fries was mediocre. I had the mixed grill platter, which was OK, but a bit dry; it needed a sauce of some kind. My wife´s roast pork with potato dumplings was tasty. Although this... More

Service was friendly at this attractive old place in the town center. A highlight is the long list of local Franken wines, spanning a wide price range. Many are available by the glass, and they will happily serve a "flight" of small portions of several different ones. In contrast, the food was not a highlight. Fish (Zander) and salad ingredients... We went to this restaurant for an early dinner with two small children. The waiter was very nice and the service quick. The children were happy with their special children menus. We both ordered a choice of local tasty fish with fresh beer. We enjoyed the atmosphere.

We tried to eat in the Ratskeller, but it was overcrowded (good food, but narrow seating inside). Spundloch offered better seating in a cosy restaurant, and very good food.

On a recent trip to Wuerzburg friends an my wife and I decided to take an afternoon boat ride on the Main river to the little charming wine village of Veitshochheim. After a quick but enjoyable ride on the busy Main, we decided to walk the village, rather than stop at one of the "touristy" resstaurants lining the river front... More

This was a wonderful place to stay, in a delightful village over the road from one of the great Rococo gardens of Germany, which is a gem. (The town is a bit bizarre in that you drive in under a huge new high speed train viaduct rising hundred of feet, but this is some way from the town proper). It... More
