Absolutely brilliant!

We had the most amazing meal served by two lovely girls who helped us when we struggled with the menu and brought water for our dog. Only fly in the ointment was the group of English people at the next table who apparently spoke no French, or certainly didn't try to, and made complete idiots of... read more

Only fly in the ointment was the group of English people at the next table who apparently spoke no French, or certainly didn't try to, and made complete idiots of themselves very loudly. We... More

We visited on market day as the market was winding down. I had the monkfish - really good size, superbly cooked. Jan had the duck breast. Again superbly cooked and large portion. The gourmand coffee was excellent as well.

We are four couples travelling the Mayenne and Sarthe rivers. We had communicated by email in advance, first to establish that they would be open on a Sunday evening (summer hours) and secondly to arrange a special desert since one of our group had a birthday. Sylvie was very responsive and all went as planned, as they presented a beautiful... More

If I am ever back in Chateau-Gontier I will defiantly be going here for dinner again. The restaurant was very modern and clean. Situated in a nice quiet part of the town centre. The food and wine was very tasty and was good value.

We recently had an excellent evening at Le Sofa. I have already recommended it to all of our friends. The food was fresh, tasty and plentiful, the service was superb and the price was very reasonable!

A clean and modern brasserie type restaurant in the centre of town. Nice choices on the fixed price lunchtime menu, well presented and cooked. Interesting cuisine with a bit more inventive flair than most. Not for eating everyday but nice for a treat. Staff speak good English No private car park, only town centre parking which can be tricky some... More

La Sofa gives you a good feeling about eating out - lovely welcome, delicious food, well chosen wines and all at a good value for money. We really enjoyed our evening and would go back anytime we're in Chateau-Gontier which by the way is a beautiful city, wonderful architecture and the river flowing past the impressive buildings - doesn't get...
