We visited this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday and did not make a reservation. Luckily there was a table available. Apparently it is very popular. We had woodfired pizza and it was nice. Not the nicest I have ever had but a nice pizza with lots of toppings and quite healthy. The service is excellent. Very friendly and quick.... More

What an unexpected surprise. Didn't even know this place existed even though I had driven past 100's of times. We totally loved the whole experience. The food was 'proper food' and the service friendly and professional. All four our meals were tasty and enjoyable. Deserts are to die for!

The place was humming so obviously the place to go for Mothers Day. My daughter had booked us in 5 adults and two kids. Had intended on having pizzas but they weren't available which they hadn't told us when the booking was made. It was a set menu of two courses $40 or 3 courses $50 pp. The food was... More

We stopped here for lunch recently and were seated promptly by a welcoming friendly waitress who explained the specials menu and answered any questions we had. We both chose the seafood pappardelle which was spectacular - no piles of pasta drowned in a nondescript sauce here. The light herby dressing over the pasta perfectly complimented the generous chunks of seafood... More

I visited The Falls Bistro with family and friends on 19th April. The service was very slow and on being told that the deserts were still 12 minutes away( after a wait of around 30mins from ordering) we cancelled them and went to pay. The woman on the desk said we would have to pay for the deserts anyway. This... More

Stopped for lunch at he Falls Bistro whilst on a cycle ride along the Hauraki rail trail. A lovely peaceful spot... And very popular. They were very good at adapting the menu to provide a wonderful lunch allowing for food intolerances. Very friendly and helpful - made the day

Well this was a treat! Seldom will you be able to enjoy first class cooking while being able to observe the internal construction techniques used in building a farm shed. Perhaps they should have used stainless steel instead of galvanised for the joist hangers but that is of little importance as it's the food that counts. The quality is outstanding even... More

Sitting on a bluff just over the river in the Karangahake Gorge, The Bistro has been created out of an old cottage at Falls Retreat, with extra seating in a covered marquee, and tables under the trees which is lovely on a summer's day. There is a playground for children, and dogs sat at diners' feet, so all are welcome.... More

We called in on our way back from Auckland on a rainy Saturday night hoping to grab a table. Our luck was in & we were seated straight away - although warned that the kitchen was busy so there might be a wait. However, the wood-fired pizzas (duck for me, meat lovers for him) were out within 20 minutes and... More
