I visited Kampong Cham on a cycling tour of Cambodia and our group visited the Smile Restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious. We tried about 5 dishes between us and they were all fresh and flavoursome, but the best thigns baout this restaurant is its cause. The Smile Restaurant employs vulnerable and orphaned children and teaches them hospitality skills.... More

Arrived in the town after a long crappy bus ride and eating street food all day. Our guide tells us we should try out SMILE. I had a Khmer vegetarian curry and it was tasty and $3. Anyone into complaining should go elsewhere, they are probably spoilt westerners anyway. I will return for dinner and breakfast too.

I had a late lunch in the Smile restaurant, there were no customers, so I got my main course from western menu (pan fried fish) pretty quick and enjoyed it. Fish from the Mekong river was amazing, though it was a bit small (especially for men). Price here is expensive for Cambodia. However quality of food is good. Staff is... More

I was in SMILE restaurant twice, once for dinner, once for a breakfast. Both times I went as a disappointed guest, both times I've seen no trainer coaching the un-experienced staff. An expat coach first appeared when I complained about the inconsistent bill: "You know, we are a training restaurant, where errors just happen, sorry." My impressions in the sense... More

I am sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience at Smile Restaurant. I remember you had ordered two Americanos and only received one of them. Then, you were charged for two Americanos. I apologize for the negligence and miscommunication. As the Expat Coach, I take every comment of customers as a way to improve Smile Restaurant. To begin,... More

This is a training restaurant to train hospitality staff. In spite of that the food was very good. We had dinner there and returned for breakfast next morning. Service was friendly though breakfast was slow because they were overwhelmed by a bus load of very demanding tourists. But we enjoyed the food.

When I was in Kampong Cham, I was working on a service project for the BSDA in Kampong Cham, and because BSDA runs the smile restaurant, it was a hub for our dining activity. We were served simply from a small buffet, yet the food tasted as if it were specially made for you. The staff always made the attempt... More

Whenever I needed a healthy pick-me-up I would head to Smile for their fresh spring rolls and fresh coconut water (juice). The staff are friendly and the outside dining area is very chilled which all added to the relaxed atmosphere. Due to the operation of the restaurant as a training facility, you do need to be aware that the food... More

I love visiting a restaurant where the staff do everything with a smile on their faces. Not only do you feeling welcome but it provides a pleasant atmosphere in an already laid back town... The food indeed is very good. Definitely go for the Khmer dishes although I'm sure the Western food is good too. On the wall, pictures /... More

We're surprised no one has mentioned Smile's freshly baked baguette yet. Its coconut scent is out of this world and, even now back in civilisation, our stomachs still crave Smile's version of the French bread. We even saw one farang buying a few for takeaway. Because we only had breakfast there, we couldn't comment much on the overall quality of... More
