Decent choice

I found the food pretty average here, although the outdoor seating was nice. There were at least 20 waiters, but the service was not terribly speedy or attentive. Still, that's not unusual in Mexico. Very clean toilets.

This has to be one of the largest family Mexican restaurants in Tlaquepaque. It is situated in a huge patio of mature trees, vines and flowers with a stage for the many performing artists of Mariachi's etc. The food was great but the service was slow but very friendly. But the place was packed with many Mexican families and also... More

Met up with a bunch of people - eight in total. We shared almost very appetizer they have and had mixed results. Some were awesome, some terrible. Service was our big issue. We couldn't get chips, waters refilled, drink orders taken, etc. The waiters dropped stuff all around us, breaking glass and spewing debris and didn't react of rush to... More

Ok food, reasonably priced, slow service. Had boiled Pork, queso fondido (not so good), and tampiqueno. Large dining area makes it better for large groups. Good location and convenient.

This restaurant opened in 1965--making it nearly 50 years old. That is a long life for a restaurant. We enjoyed a drink made with lime juice, sugar and peppermint--very refreshing. The sandwich we had is very authentic to the region. The bread is ONLY made in Jalisco--it is hard and crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The... More

If you are ever in Guadalajara you MUST visit Tlaquepaque and you MUST eat and drink at El Abajeño. The food is amazing, and the ambience with all the Mariachi is so much fun.

First, you must have a reservation, otherwise you will wait for hours. The food is good (better than what we expected), the atmosphere is great if you are looking for a place with soul, you have to be relaxed because this is not quiet but you will have a great time. Prices are decent (lower that what we expected).

My family and I had lunch there on Saturday. We went 18 months ago and I recalled something bugged me. Service and organization is appalling (rude service in some cases) but it is a fun place with decent food and good drinks and outdoors and live show and music. Nice mix of tourists and locals celebrating. This happened to me... More

Although we had been there before for lunch, when it is quiet and empty and ther Mariachi's seem to care about someone other than the celebrities. This time we ordered excellent drinks and then waited 40 minutes before we finally waved our arms and ordered diner. True the place was full, which means smokers doing their thing were-ever they wanted,... More
