Cool Courtyard Dining

A well established restaurant in Gandia but this was my first visit. Tucked away down a side street yet just a minute from the main Paseo, the frontage so understated could easily be missed. Once found though you are certain to go again. Through the main restaurant is a shady, quiet courtyard... read more

This was the third time we had visited Almar but the first time at the weekend the food was once again oustanding from the amuse bouche of cold tomato and garlic soup, outstanding, to the desert of a very special melt in the mouth cake with ice cream the fun was superb, eating on the terrace makes you feel far... We were recommended to book.. Wise advice indeed as Saturday night is very busy.. We opted for the 18 Euro Menu Del Dia and were treated to three wonderful starters combining a range of flavours and textures .. Including some chocolate! Main course was a wonderful take on Chicken wrap.. With spinach and wonderful sauces and some really complementary vegetables... More

Another lovely meal with food that looks as good as it tastes. Always something a bit special and a bit different , and beautifully presented every time. The service is welcoming, friendly and really helpful and the atmosphere calm and conducive to good eating. We have eaten many many times at this restaurant and have enjoyed every single meal .... We were regular diners, once a month, at this restaurant for several years. We found the food, service, surroundings all very good and the value excellent. However, about a year ago we arrived at the restaurant with friends, having reserved our table as usual, to find the restaurant had not reserved our table. The restaurant said they were expecting us... More

The food's always good and the staff friendly. But the best time to come is in the summer, to eat outside in the courtyard - a real pleasure.

There are many good restaurants in Gandia all offering high quality food, friendly attentive service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere and this should always be expected. Almar offers something that makes it very special. The chefs take so much pride in their work that every quality dish is freshly cooked ,and leaves the kitchen only when the chef is... More

We visited after reading other reviews on trip advisor - and we were not disappointed. Although quiet on a Tuesday evening we sat amongst other Spanish diners and enjoyed a well presented meal. Despite speaking no English, the waiter was very friendly and service excellent. The head chef regularly came out to check that all was as it should be.... More

All our 10 meals at Almar have been utterly divine. One of them involved a cookery day starting at 9.30am at which we and 38 other food lovers took part in food preparation with a wonderful, enthusiastic chef. We tasted, we admired, we were impressed ; we stopped for wine at 1.30pm then each of us prepared our own fish... More

Some restaurants get it just right . Attentive service without being intrusive, the volume of the music, the atmosphere, and above all , the food and it's presentation . We have eaten here three times in the past two weeks..twice at lunchtime and one 'degustation' tapas evening, which was a culinary triumph. It looked beautiful and tasted sublime. We have... More
