Good food, interesting layout & friendly staff.

This restaurant is fantastically well set out & personally I had a great meal here, although my other half didnt enjoy her main course. Just what you want when on holiday: a restaurant popular with locals and accommodating to tourists. Fabulous traditional Canarian / Spanish food plus some of the island's best wines, served by helpful staff. The restaurant itself is impressive, in a volcanic cellar-like 'cave', with a charming bar. Everything we ate was delicious, especially the steak, papas arrugadas, mojo rojo and... More

A refuge from the storm which encompassed the South of La Palma. Fleeing this, we had headed up the west coast in the direction of Los Llanos, and found this excellent restaurant just south of Las Manchas. It is in a cave and from the outside, not all that inviting. Inside the atmosphere s very welcoming, the walls being adorned... More

We had spent a long day driving around the mountain roads without seeing a place to eat. Those roads are quiet but "hairy". Tamanca could not be missed, which is one of its highlights. The food was very good, but the pork was too fatty for my wife. The service could not have been better. We would definitely go again

We found this by chance, as we were driving around the island, we decided to stop for coffee.. What a great find, the inside is a cave and seemed to go on forever , it was really good, we were only sorry that we weren't coming back for dinner, but maybe next time for sure. We did purchase. Bottle of... More

We visited this Restaurant after completing a hard walk up into the mountains in January 2015. The restaurant had in the region of 30 other diners at the time and the smell of the food was good. I ordered Fillet of Fish which was a Tuna Steak and my partner ordered cuttlefish which was Octopus. We also had a place... More

We decided to visit after seeing a positive review in the DailyTelegraph travel section. No cava, the national fizz of Spain to start with, and only the Bodega's own wines are served. Menu very heavy with pork offerings, possibly influenced by the large number of German visitors to the area. The cuttlefish my wife ordered were not edible- but we... More

We both had pepper steak which was excellent. Avoid the 'pork bits in golfio' which are pork scratchings in, I think, a maize flour to start. My fault as I had forgotten what golfio was. Very good service and reasonably priced.

We had a late lunch here and the place was almost deserted, so probably lacked a bit of atmosphere as a result. The restaurant/cellar is cut into the hillside, and was dark and cool inside and a nice respite from the sun. The food was OK: big focus on meat with fries/side salad. Pork in mojo sauce was tender but... More

Upon entering the restaurant, the authentic wine cave interior is a pleasant surprise. We had a queso asado to start and the morcilla (blood sausage) which had the sweet taste and structure of an almond cake; quite nice. Very well accompanied by the bodega's own red wine (tinto pedregal), the generously sized steak was simply perfect. The one remark I... More
