Thus far, we have eaten at Fischer's twice - once in the summer time and once in winter. On both occasions, we have been treated to a wonderful meal with friendly staff. Our choice has always been the tasting menu, and of the multiple courses, we have yet to identify a duff one. The flights of wines are sensible matched... More

On a glorious Sunday after Christmas, we drove to Fisher's at Baslow Hall for lunch. Brilliant sunshine but with the Dales covered in snow it was a magical journey, with roads clear of snow and ice. Unfortunately our meal did not come upto expectations - which admittedly were high. A crab & prawn mousse filled Ravioli was good but spoiled... More

The tasting menu was imaginative and delicious. The dining room is intimate and comfortable. The staff was attentive and welcoming. I will remember the clever dessert for a long time: a perfect little snowman of sorbet and ice cream. Highly recommended.

Had lunch here on a snowy Saturday afternoon after Christmas. The 8 course tasting menu was £60 each. My wife had the matching wines, 8 tasting glasses for another £40. For the quality and variety of food I thought this was excellent value. Yes, as some people have noted, the portions are small, and I didn't walk away feeling stuffed,... More

Friends joined my husband and I for a delicious Christmas lunch. This is a special place for very fine dining. The dining rooms are oak panelled and lofty with magnificent drapes. The service is understated and highly professional. The menu is difficult to choose from, because each course sounds amazing. Each course was carefully balanced, complimented by very fine wines.... Put simply, I already said all there is to say in the title. Try the tasting menu if you feel like splashing out on a special occasion - and make sure you include the wines, each of which is perfectly balanced with the food. And whatever you do, don't miss out on the cheeseboard. Couldn't be bettered actually. Well done... More

A friend's 50th meant we wanted somewhere a bit above and beyond the norm, Fischers got the gig. Opening cocktails were served with a few amuse bouche - both set the scene and the palate up well. The food (all 3 courses) was awesome - I can't remember all the ingredients but they are all on the restaurant's web-site -... More

Disappointed that the Christmas decorations were not up. Have been for lunch a few times. Food is lovely but alcohol is overpriced. Had some house champagne with nibbles. Parsnip crisps were a bit greasy, but cheese and parma ham twists were very nice. Lovely amuse bouche of chestnut soup with a mulled wine foam. Breads OK. Had goose for starter... More

I always look at reviews before I go anywhere. People will always find something to moan about . However my husband and I had the best evening ever. We were invited to Fischers by friends and couldn't thank them enough for a wonderful evening. We stayed in the garden rooms and had an amazing meal. Thanks to really friendly staff... More
