Friends joined my husband and I for a delicious Christmas lunch. This is a special place for very fine dining. The dining rooms are oak panelled and lofty with magnificent drapes. The service is understated and highly professional. The menu is difficult to choose from, because each course sounds amazing. Each course was carefully balanced, complimented by very fine wines.... Put simply, I already said all there is to say in the title. Try the tasting menu if you feel like splashing out on a special occasion - and make sure you include the wines, each of which is perfectly balanced with the food. And whatever you do, don't miss out on the cheeseboard. Couldn't be bettered actually. Well done... More

A friend's 50th meant we wanted somewhere a bit above and beyond the norm, Fischers got the gig. Opening cocktails were served with a few amuse bouche - both set the scene and the palate up well. The food (all 3 courses) was awesome - I can't remember all the ingredients but they are all on the restaurant's web-site -... More

Disappointed that the Christmas decorations were not up. Have been for lunch a few times. Food is lovely but alcohol is overpriced. Had some house champagne with nibbles. Parsnip crisps were a bit greasy, but cheese and parma ham twists were very nice. Lovely amuse bouche of chestnut soup with a mulled wine foam. Breads OK. Had goose for starter... More

I always look at reviews before I go anywhere. People will always find something to moan about . However my husband and I had the best evening ever. We were invited to Fischers by friends and couldn't thank them enough for a wonderful evening. We stayed in the garden rooms and had an amazing meal. Thanks to really friendly staff... More

My husband and I invited our foodie relatives for a treat at Fischer's. The little hors d'oeuvres served in the reception with our aperitifs were beautiful but I wasn't that struck with my belly pork starter; the pork was a bit tough but my husband's langoustines with satay was exquisite, I could have eaten a plate of that! In between... More

Went to this restaurant for my birthday was very disappointed had the taste of Britain menu, good cooking but the tiniest portions I've ever known in any Michelin restaurant, boring bread selection waitresses that don't know what they're doing, my husband ordered a happy birthday plate that didn't arrive he had to ask for it in front of me and... We ate the week day set lunch menu and it was delicious. As well as the menu items that can be seen on the website, there was an incredible chestnut soup with mulled wine foam. The menu items were lovely, each plateful had a delicious range of flavours and textures and were presented beautifully.

Recently visited the restaurant to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday. The whole experience from booking to arrival to table was easy and pleasant. We had the English Tasting Menu (7 courses) and selected our own wine. The hotel is small and cosy, the staff helpful and the food excellent. The speed of service was just right for us and we... Came here recently as as a couple for the taste of Britain menu and it was fantastic. An amazing selection of wines to go with it too. We left the restaurant two and a half hours later feeling full although we did have a little laugh at the 'hand dived scallops' course as our poor little single scallop had been... More
