Pukeko Junction is a surprisingly funky cafe on the main road north of Christchurch - making it one of the better places to stop for good coffee and a tasty, interesting selection of food. However, when we visited we were disappointed with the slightly unfriendly (almost snobby) service. The soup served was not what was ordered, and you have to... More

We went.to Pukeko Junction as it had been recommended by a friend, and we could see why it is popular. The decor is funky and fresh, and the lovely warm fire kept us cosy - almost too cosy! We ordered lamb shanks pies without the side salad, and a children's platter. The place was absolutely packed so there was quite... More

The variety of food is astonishing, the quality of the food is wonderful, portion sizes are huge. The food is all home cooked and presented beautifully. Coffee is great.

We had lunch here recently, the food is really very good, beautiful egg and bacon pie and frittata, the only negative is that they shouldn't serve Mr Watties tomato sauce with the pie, it would be so much nicer with some homemade relish or sauce, as they do with the frittata. Lovely sweet things in the cabinet as well, oat... More

I have been here several times and never been disappointed. They have a great selection of food including delicious vegetarian food. We bought some desserts after lunch to take to Hanmer with us. They were so good we stopped on the way back and bought more of the same. well worth a day trip from Christchurch if you live there.

We enjoyed our meals very much. Was very busy so a a bit of a wait for table and meals, the meals were hot and worth the wait. You can pass a bit of time looking in the gift shop, lots of local wine and crafts for sale.

just left Christchurch on a rainy day, the weather was as we say; not for taking the cat tail out. Make sure to stop at Pukeko for a small snack and coffee 'served' in a large tumbler. Celine at the bar would probably make you one of the best flat white, with a lovely heart motive on top, as no... More

We travel past around 10 times per year and the kids make me stop here. They are teenagers and we all love the food - and the coffee. We stayed in Asburton and drove 1 1/2 hours to have breakfast here on the way home. Fantastic!

We had quiche for breakfast at Pukeko Junction. The meal was hot and tasty. There were many other things on the menu that looked good but we did not have time to try them. The prices are typical of a restaurant in its class. The service was prompt.

We found this delightful place on our very last day in NZ. Fresh, delicious food and a great selection.
