Family day out at Easter

Very spacious restaurant. There were seven in our group and I had booked via their website earlier in the morning which turned out to be a good idea. The grandchildren enjoyed their meals and assortment of drinks. The adults had no complaints with their meals. It was a busy Easter Sunday and... read more

We visited on a Friday morning and food cabinet not stocked up, so resorted to Menu which for that time of day was limiting. We ordered sausage roll and eggs benedict. The lovely lady serving was rushed off her feet, and only one kitchen staff on. Obviously they hadn't catered for being busy. We ordered and it was cooked to... More

The beers produced here are a little different to the mainstream NZ offering, and are well worthwhile trying. They tend to be a little fuller in flavour and hoppier than many, but sit nicely on the palate, particularly with food, of which there is plenty, and of a good standard.

Stopped for a brunch while on the road. We both chose their full breakfast, it took its time arriving but that meant everything was cooked from scratch so no complaints. 'Two poached eggs, mushrooms, sausage, toast, new potatoes and spinach (!?!)' Washed down with black coffee and green tea. Pleasant service at an average price.

Firstly good to find somewhere open all day on Sunday - so many NZ cafes shut at 4pm. The café/micro brewery is on highway 1, a bit quirky, with a good range of beers - available for $4 for a selection of four tasting plate. The food was good - not great choices but the seafood chowder was really good... More

We stopped for a meal enroute with our two children, aged 6 and 9, and were so pleased we did. We were able to sit outside under a covered area and appreciated the shade. The food was excellent and great value. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the kids platters which we couldn't recommend more highly. Service was great - very friendly... More

We stopped here for lunch and was glad that we did. It's a nice cafe which brews it's own beer so lots of options. There is indoor seating, outdoor marquee seating and then an assortment of outside tables if you fancy sitting outside. The service was really quick and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend the corn fritters. Will... More

We stopped at the Brew Moon passing through on our way to Christchurch. The service was a little slow, the staff were very friendly and the servings were quite large. I ordered the sausage roll and salad, and it was very filling. There was a nice outdoor eating area. We did not try the beer. A nice place to stop... More

I know I've written before about this 'Brewery-garden cafe', but I've made a few more visits this month with my Berlin pals ... it has quite simply (on a nice day) become our default eatery (and drinkery) in the North Canterbury area ... The situation is an unpretentious and green beer garden, the beers are excellent, and -- well, I've... More

Been a few years since last here, heard was in new ownership. A sunny day so a light lunch in the shade was desired, pleasantly surprised by the interesting menu and very reasonable prices. Sign proudly stating no surcharge for the holiday weekend. The cabinet food had me before I saw menu, the mushroom filo and salad were just great... More
