"Rustic chic dining where you just won't want to leave" Our bright and contemporary Conservatory restaurant perfectly balances 15th century farmhouse charm with a modern and relaxed dining environment. Whether you want a quick lunch, a bite to eat on the way home from work or to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary, Carol and her front of house team will look after your every need. Our head chef Scott and his brigade have built our reputation as one of the best restaurants in Hertfordshire. All the food is seasonal and our menus change frequently. Using local produce where possible, including game, but occasionally going further afield to get the very best. Redcoats - A place of warmth, precious moments and endless character. Dinner for two

Treated ourselves just because our children were both away. Hadn't visited for many years and it was even better than I remembered. Drinks on the lawn as it was a lovely evening, followed by three courses.

My boyfriend and I decided to go for a quite meal. We wanted somewhere to just talk and relaxed. This is exactly what we got. We had a lovely meal with a lovely view to the garden. Was the perfect meal and not that bad of prices for what we got.

We have visited this restaurant regularly over the past 15 years and have always viewed Redcoats amongst our special places to celebrate various occasions. Sadly, our last visit left us feeling very disappointed so it will probably be the last time we eat here. The food was overdone and finding a piece of plastic in the ice-cream at the end... More

Dear Janet, Firstly thank-you for your comments. I'm very sorry that we let you down on your recent visit. I apologise for the piece of plastic film that you found on your ice cream, this was due to a chef not taking proper care and attention. We carefully select all of our suppliers and are particularly proud of our partnership... More

Had an evening meal in the conservatory. Food was excellent and the conservatory was nice and summery, if a bit harshly lit later in the evening. We had a lovely evening here - well worth a visit for dinner

Visited with a group on a hot Sunday afternoon. The plan was to have afternoon tea in the restaurant. It became apparent that the restaurant had been double-booked with a wedding party, so we were set up in the garden. Luckily the weather was good. The food was shocking. The sandwiches were sweating, with the prawn/seafood ones looking like they... More

The staff were friendly and professional with the food being of a high standard and well presented. Value for money isn't bad either. Budget on £50 a head if you go for three courses and a bottle or two of wine. They have a good selection of spirits for those who prefer to savour a good single Malt or like... More

We have recently held two family parties at Redcoats and both times the staff were excellent, the food was brilliant and the service was what you'd expect. It has a couple of great rooms for private dining and small parties, and when the weather is good the grounds allow for extra space for guests to wonder and enjoy the scenery.... More

Whilst searching for wedding venues we thought we'd test out the food here in order to make an informed decision but unfortunately we were left disappointed. The place itself is very quaint with a beautiful garden and lovely conservatory room. The service initially was very good and welcoming with a great choice of wines on the menu. However the food...
