Just a Plain Okay

Having a day trip around the Hitchin area and decided to stop here for an evening meal before heading home. Food was okay but IMHO rather expensive.

Popped in for a quick lunch, was busy but were offered a table that was reserved for six (there were only two of us - guess they were holding it in case they got a large group come in). Friendly service, nothing fussy, just good food, recommend the nachos. The beef baguette could have done with a bit more filling... More

A wonderful I think family run pub with fantastic sceneries with the beautiful pond at the back of the pub. We chose this pub after coming for a drink the week before we booked for a birthday Sunday lunch, there were 7 of us. We all chose various different meals from a great varied menu everything arrived piping hot and... More

I was part of a large family group for Lunch we had pre order our meal some days before which I personally found limiting as you have no idea how you feel on the day. The seating I found quite cramped as the tables are very close, also I found the room very warm. The service was reasonable but I... More

Booked a table with 3 high chairs upon arriving made to feel uncomfortable by hostess as we had 3 buggies. As 2 kids were sleeping we left them in their buggies which clearly irritated the hostess who made a point of saying there was not enough room and made us feel very uncomfortable. The food arrived and was good however... More

We were looking for somewhere for lunch as the sun was hot and shining - so it had to be the Waggon and Horses with tables at the rear overlooking the pond and ducks (we even had a heron make a passing visit) We had the Nachos starter to share and jacket potato skins to share as well. This was... More

we came here on a Friday night without a reservation as we were planning to eat at the leisure park but the waiting times were too long. So glad now we stopped here rather than eat in Stevenage. The lady allowed us a table as long as we were ok to leave it by a certain time as it was... More

Delicious food brought swiftly. Friendly service throughout. Excellent portion sizes at a reasonable price. Lovely and clean and homely atmosphere with cosy warm open fire. Only downside was had to order food at the bar rather than a waitor take it.
