The staff are so friendly, welcoming and professional, whilst making you feel like you're number one priority. The food is great and never disappoints, and the specials are a real treat. The Highlander is a great place to have a drink and hold events/celebrations also. I highly recommend it.

Reading the other reviews we had high hopes for this place, yet here's my take: Service - although one of the waiters was great (charming, polite etc), the old lady serving there was very rough around the edges, clearly sees customers as a hindrance. I don't care if she's busy she shouldn't make us feel like second class citizens. She... More

The Highlander is a cute little pub just outside of Hitchin town. The staff are lovely and very attentive to it's customers, the food was delicious and the dinning room in which we were seated for our meal was really rustic and small which was a nice touch, very cosy. I'd reccomnend this place to anyone. They have a lovely... More

My husband and I went here for dinner recently after reading about it in a guide book. The pub was lively and seemed to have a good atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and the service good, even though the pub was busy. The only let down was the food my husband picked. He started with the crab which he was... More

Have eaten here on numerous occasions. Like the rustic setting and mismatched chairs and tables. As well as the menu there is a selection of chefs specials which have always been spot on.

Popped in for lunch with family including two very young grandsons. Clearly, children are welcome and well looked after. A very friendly staff took our order and the food arrived after a short time. Excellent food representing good value. Much better than many pubs visited in the past. Would not hesitate to visit again.

My second time of visiting, this is a tidy and straightforward pub with little to criticise although nothing exceptional to comment on. Where it does score, perhaps, is on value for money; the portion sizes are good and as long as they keep that up I shall be keen to visit again.

We met my sister and her family here for lunch yesterday as it's half way between the different parts of the country we live in. My husband instantly commented on how clean everything looked. The staff were very helpful and happy, they had set up a high chair for my sisters little girl all ready for out arrival. The table... More

Good wholesome (but with a modern twist) food and a nice buzzy atmosphere makes The Highlander a great place to visit. This is especially the case in the Winter as it is feels nice and cosy. Car park gets full quickly as it's not that large but you can often park on the roads opposite. It is definitely worth a... More

Very very nice. I was surprised to see a pub serving food so busy during the week. Clearly the refurbishment they did a while ago had a positive effect. Personally this was my first time here and I went with some friends if mine. The food was very good and served in a reasonable time, all dishes in one go... More
