Wine tasting with pizza - what a treat for lunch! Never mind about the rest of the day. Had a look through the chalets and wow that are fab! What a retreat - already many of the team were deciding on when to come and treat themselves. We all ended up buying wine, can't buy it in the shops! Drinking... More

We stumbled on this place by chance and the reason it get a high rating is that the owner is a star and the staff are very friendly. We had thin crispy based pizzas made right in front of you in their wood fired pizza oven. The cafe is situated in a small winery and I would urge you to... More

tried two wines from here both were delicious. manager was really helpful, suggested buying a bottle instead of 2 glass in relation to the cost which was more than worth it because I would have brought a bottle after trying. some of the staff could have made a bit better effort.

Highly recommended! The guys working here will look after you big time. Have a glass of wine, their Pinot Noir is pretty nice.Nice setting in a vineyard. Truly enjoyed my visit.

The range of food was confined to pizza and sides or cookies. These were fresh and tasty. The setting was elevated and provided a commanding view over the vineyard and environs. Very informal and relaxing - high recommended if you are looking for something nice and casual. Longer opening hours would be nice.

My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary weekend with family at Pukawa Bay on Lake Taupo. For Saturday lunch we booked virtually the entire restaurant putting tables together on the decking by the pizza oven for our party of 21. The weather was great and we had a brilliant very relaxed 3 hour lunch. The children were able... More

We've stayed at Floating Rock / Kuratau River Wines three times and can't wait to come back again. The chalets in the vineyard are peaceful and beautifully appointed. They're spacious and comfortable. It's great to borrow the kayaks and float down the Kuratau river to Lake Taupo. The food at the cafe is delicious and the wood fired pizzas are... More
