We stopped here on our way home from Scotland to Manchester on Friday 20th June, what a lovely find this hotel is, we were greeted by a lovely young lady, we ordered drinks at the bar and sat in the main room, the 4 of us ordered starters, soup, pate, smoked salmon and Brie wedges, they were amazing, our mains... I stayed here with a party of 8 other fishermen for 2 nights. The accommodation food And service were all excellent. Hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean and the food at dinner and breakfast really good. Fantastic value for money. Will be back next year.

We found this hotel by pure chance. A fantastic experience. We booked for two nights but stayed for the week. Attentive staff, wonderful food (wide choice of menu) Cleanliness at A Star as far as we are concerned, no dusty corners and clean shower and toilet units. The owner, Nigel, oversees everything efficiently and calmly. I could go on but... More

Stayed on Friday 13th with my 3 dogs. Had room 11 which was ground floor and has it's own outside door so I could get the dogs in and out easily. Very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were really good and good value. Check out efficient and very pleasant. Would definitely return

Great friendly little hotel where you actually get to meet the owner. Good food in the restaurant or bar, good atmospere and fantastic ceilings in the restaurant. Have stayed in 3 different rooms, all big, clean and of good quality. Some with fine views. A great stop over on the way North (although there are lots of things to see... More

I ate dinner at this hotel last night (27/10/11) with my husband, mum and sister-in-law and niece. The hotel itself is a small, country house-type hotel with wonderfully ornate fireplaces and high-ceilinged rooms with decorative coving. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a bar and dining area, or a more formal restaurant to choose from. There is also a small room... More

We ate here twice in two weeks and on both occasions found it was rather noisy. The food was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful though.
