This country pub was highly recommended to us and being a bit sceptical that it could be as good as said we came and tried it ourselves. We had three different meals and deserts with drinks before. The atmosphere is brilliant - a really healthy buzz lots of lovely people clearly having fun. They all appeared to be local and... More

Limited choice of beers at London prices and the draught cider was off. The decor was dreadful and the back garden, where no self-respecting patron would want to go was empty. The service was slow and not particularly friendly. If the people that run the pub are able to make a decent living, then it won't be as a result... More

It's very sad that the UK has lost so many country pubs but the silver lining is that those that are surviving are better for it and the George & Dragon is a good case in point! I was recently looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch between Loughborough and Peterborough to meet up with family after dog walking. I e-mailed... More

My wife enjoyed a lunch here last week. The weather was beautiful and therefore sitting outside in the courtyard was very practical . A decent menu coupled with good service shows how professional this hotel is. You need deep pockets to eat here but it is worth it

I was with a group of 10 very hungry, very wet cyclists looking for somewhere welcoming to stop, rest, dry off and refuel. We turned a corner and found (Oasis has already been mentioned and that's Very Accurate) The George & Dragon. Tom and Ginny were really welcoming which was fantastic considering how much some of us were dripping. Nice... More

While enduring our 189 mile London to Sheffield charity bike ride in the rain we stopped here for lunch. We were welcomed in by the landlord and land lady, made comfortable and served the perfect food we asked for. To top it all off the locals generously chipped in to add to our collection, enjoyed some great banter with us... More

My husband and I stumbled upon this pub whilst driving home. There was a brown sign noting it on the A47 toward Leicester as a "17th Century Inn" (or something similar). It was only about a mile or so off the main road. What a wonderful find! As soon as we walked in, we loved the feel. The staff were... More

Went for a family lunch with ages ranging from 12 to 87. We booked in advance and the managers were more than happy to meet with our requirements and gave a very good value set menu. The food was really nice, and a little bit different, but changes could be made for people who wanted a bit more normal. The... More

We found this small country pub whilst out riding on our motorcycle. We walked in and felt really welcome with a friendly atmosphere from staff, locals & even other visitors. It was in the afternoon so we had a traditional Sunday lunch in the bar area, very good value. There is also an area for dining, without helmets!! A thoroughly... More

I've eaten here on a number of occasions and always received a warm welcome. The food is outstanding and the staff remembered me on each visit. A traditional village pub with traditional village welcome.
