Having been multiple times in the past to La locanda we returned again! Since the last time there were multiple additions to the menu, as per usual I tasted everything I had not previously had, all of it was beautifully cooked with flavours that were extremely well balanced. You park at the hilltop heart of this medieval village, but that's all to the good once you are inside. It's only 100 meters or so to the Locanda del Capitano, a charming small inn set in a four-story structure dating back to the 800s! We were a couple and one adult child, and following tips from earlier Trip Advisor... More

We stayed in Montone for a week in July this year and tried 5 different restaurants of all very good standard. Montone is blessed with an abundance of excellent restaurants for such a small village ( and a gorgeous village at that). This was the most expensive of the 5 we tried and although 2 of our party of 4... More

Have eaten here twice. Setting is beautiful. Service very attentive. Superb and reasonably priced wines with owner recommendation to be taken very seriously. The wild boar is amazing as U.S. The sliced steak. Deserts are all spectacular

Montone is like a set straight from a Shakespeare play - indeed there were lots of rehearsals underway for next week's summer festival as we walked to the restaurant. A fantastic Umbrian hilltop town that is perfectly formed. This restaurant is fine dining with a well designed menu that is both short and simple but also finely executed. Service is... More

We first visited this restaurant when our son was 18 months old and returned with him to enjoy it again at 15. We sat outside on the terrace on a wonderfully warm evening with the strains of jazz coming up from the nearby piazza. The chef/patron Giancarlo Polito took us through his delicious menu. For the first course, we enjoyed... More

Good food, a bit pricy for the quality. But on the plus Side, Typical Umbrian with local ingredients. Great service with a story with every meal and an elaborate wine list.

The restaurant is in a wonderful setting within the walls of the hilltop town of Montone. Just up from the piazza you will find this tranquil restaurant with imaginative, beautifully prepared food created by chef Giancarlo Polito. The ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible - with Umbria being land-locked, the fish is brought in especially from Puglia. All of it... More

We followed a recommendation and the very good ratings at trip advisor. Yes, the location, food and service are good, but we had at least similar good experiences at other - sometime for more low price - in Umbria before. The antipasti and desert were the best, Pasta and main corse (wild board) good but not better than at other... More
