We had an excellent dinner here. The owners (mother and son) were attentive and friendly. The food was very good and a step up from the basic cuisine we've had elsewhere in the region. Unfortunately the wine we ordered was corked but without a moment's hesitation they whisked the bottle away and said even if it wasn't off they'd exchange... More

My partner and I visited in the week for lunch. The owners are very friendly and the younger staff very polite and obliging. Most of the dishes are freshly made on the premises. We had smoked salmon that was very good. The rest of the meal was nice but nothing special. Don't expect haut cuisine. A very nice lunch but... More

We took a 50 minute drive to Castelnaudry from where we were staying specifically to have lunch at Le Tirou and to try the cassoulet. We were so glad we did. The cassoulet was rich and delicious and the best I tried in our week+ in this region. The pork main was also excellent. The family who run the restaurant... More

Last orders are meant to be at 8.30....but we arrived about 8.45 and were welcomed in by the owner...we ordered quickly as we all wanted to try the cassoulet. It was delicious....beautifully tender pieces of pork, duck and homemade pork sausage. We were tired from travelling all day to get to Le Boat depot and couldn't really do the food... More

Very good lunch on the terrace beside a small "herd" of alpacas, sheep, goats and donkeys, making it a true rural experience. The family who own/run the restaurant went out of their way to make our time with them enjoyable. They pride themselves on their pork specialties and my cassoulet and my wife's pork mains were very good. The sort... More

Four of us were staying in Carcassonne. and since we had finished seeing the town, we set out in our car for a tour of the area. I had heard that the Cassoulet in Carcassonne is surpassed only by that in Castelnaudary, so we stopped in at Le Tirou. We were very early for dinner, so while the staff finished... More

What a great experience! The restaurant is on the edge of town, around 15 minutes walk from town's Grand Bassin: good news is that the return is mostly downhill. As you approach Le Tirou you see two big picture windows, with the gleaming kitchen in full view, always a good sign. Good and warm welcome from the serving team, English... More

We came here to eat Cassoulet, following the recomendation of the staff at Les Pyrenees, on a trip to France. And it didn't disappoint. The place is beautiful, and it gives the atmosphere of a family run business (not sure whether it is or not). As a good spaniard, I planned to arrive early for lunch around 2, but that's... More

We have been eating at Le Tirou Restaurant now for many years and it is always superb. The family run business provides a wonderful setting to eat the best Cassoulet and foie gras! The restaurant has been artistically decorated and the animals in the garden make it very special.
